It takes a special kind of person to do EMT/paramedic/rescue work. My dad was an EMT on the local department for around 14 years. Since it was a volunteer department, when the call came, wherever you were, you went to the call or station. My sis-in-law has been a paramedic for 10 years plus. They've both seen a lot but something that close to home would be really, really hard. Professional detachment does wonders but at some point it hands off to personal feelings.

I'm so sorry...I should have just left well enough alone....enough misery in this world....I seriously apologize

No need to apologize, and I thank you for thinking of the association. Mike was a great friend. I'll go tomorrow to say goodbye to him.

It does help to talk about what hurts.

Oh man, I am sorry to hear that. One tragedy is enough. Two more is so, so sad. Hugs to you.

I agree. To know you are not alone, and that others have similar things happen helps us make peace with things sometimes. Still not easy, but these things never are.
Best wishes to you Walnut, and to your friend's family and loved ones.

Dad is a first responder. He has seen some awful wrecks. One particular instance was during Halloween, he pulled a witch out from under her car, very dead. I know they give him nightmares. It is a very small town, so almost all the calls are people he knows.

I could see that making a lasting impression

If you guys would be so kind as to let me get something off my chest if you would and although I know his accident wasn't my fault. All these years I've lived with the thought stuck in the back of my head....the deer he hit was crossing the road to come to my garden....and I've never came out and said anything to anyone about how that bothers me.
Enough said...thanks ....Phil
