Sorry for the extra long quote...I had a lot to catch up on!
this is mostly my philosophy with assisting, any egg. How long do you wait to make a safety hole after internal pip?
I give you credit for doing it! I've only culled a chick. But with all these roosters, I know I'm going to have to put some down, eventually. I'll ask you for pointers!
They are just so perfect and adorable! Great job!!
X2!!
Are you planning on keeping the quail? Breeding them? My neighbors quail eggs that I tried to hatch were old but also filthy and extremely thin, brittle shells from poor nutrition, exactly like you said. Wouldn't be good breeders. Sorry you lost so many!
I want to see it so bad. Me and my 10 year old son have seen all of them except for the new one. Well I guess his dad and his girlfriend went to see it and he said that my son should absolutely not be allowed to see it. That it's far more violent then the previous ones and inappropriate for him to see. I call BS. I think he's just on a power trip. So what's your opinion compared to the previous ones??
Exactly!!
No, I hate it! I think the food is gross. My grandmother loves it! But she pretty much loves any restaurant.
Ok, so several had internally pipped the night before, but only the one made an external pip... after sitting overnight without external pip, I made safe holes for the rest, you can tell when they need it cuz thry tap like crazy on the shell... left them for the entire day with just safe holes for air... then late last night, early morning I start enlarging the safe hole... if they peep, I continue to open up the air cell, leaving the inner membrane intact... veins still visible, so use qtips and vaseline to keep it moist, make sure bill is clear for breathing and return to the bator til they are ready to finish... I never take them out of the shell or inner membrane... when they are ready, they will come out, plus that struggle is good for them to strengthen up their legs and pull in the blood from the veins... I did lose 2 that internally pipped with too much liquid still in the egg, unfortunately, but have a half doz still sitting nicely finishing their absorbing...
It is a long, tedious job in assisting Calls, but the key is in the stages and knowing when and how far to go each step... it's a learning process for sure, but if you don't start soon enough, they suffocate and to soon they really aren't ready...

Just finished bleaching all the feeders and waterers after culling 3 of my chickens today. At least I'm getting better at it and it was much quicker than last time I had to cull. Thinking of spraying down the inside of the coop with Oxine - anybody use it?
All the other chickens look fine. On the boy front, I'm down to the two Orloff cockerels. As long as they keep getting along, they can both stay. Nugget is getting so tall - although he has almost no spangles and a few crooked toes, he has that long Orloff neck I really like. Would love to keep him to get a few offspring to work with next year.
Although it's not quite 5:00 here, i think I need a drink..............

I've done almost all of my Christmas shopping on Amazon!
X2!!
I went to another swap today, didnt make any purchase i was only meeting a friend, But the lady who sold me the quail eggs was there. It was really funny, she recognized me and askd how she knew me... I told her i bought eggs and how i was really upset that 45 of the eggs Died. all covered in poop and/or cracked, poor nutritsion led to brittle shells. im down to only Half and thats the worst incbuation ive ever had in my incbuator. She tried to tell me she didnt understand Why. So i proceeded to tell her how the poop had infiltrated the bloom and poisioned the eggs... Never rude, or "make a scene" kind of thing, but she didnt have two words of argument. She knew. She just sat down in her chair and looked at me. Woulda gave me my $ back if i told her to do so, but i never had that intention. I shoulda been more aware, and this is the price.

Is it bad to admit I don't like Cracker Barrel??![]()

I don't care for pasta. Lasagna is biggy, and of course, casseroles. You name it, it can be made into a casserole, except fish, fish isn't big here.
im sorry your neighbors are unbreedable, but you know if i get Any eggs that you want, you better hit me up! Even though i dont really want silkies, im positive we can work something out.
