OK, I'm not crazy then - the person I talked to must have a bunch of hatchery EEs around or something.  (Well, maybe I am crazy but I am happy with how my EEs lay!)

My EEs are laying machines, they keep pace with the BSL. I guess it all depends on what went into making them.
One of my customers is dying for AM chicks, and said she would be glad to be the Guinea pig and buy any that hatch from the first batch, even a 100% hatch, so I have an excuse to set these blue eggs Friday e

My cracked egg has made it to lockdown alive!!
I have a couple strange questions, so I thought asking them here would be perfect ...
This is going to sound weird but I was just wondering...
Has anyone ever hard boiled eggs that were in the incubator but were very early quitters and fed them to their chickens?? Is that just wrong??
And does a broody hen stop turning her eggs close to hatch??

It's perfectly fine to boil or scramble ex-incubated eggs and feed them back to the flock. Just crumble them up, shells and all. Yes, a broody stops turning her eggs close to hatch. I suspect it's when she hears them scratching or pipping in the shell, or maybe it's when they've drawn down and tend to settle in the same position anyhow. And congrats on the tape egg!

And Ruby, that's great the cracked one is hanging in there. I dont see any reason why the clears wouldn't be ok to feed back to the flock.
