Howdy weekend crew.....
......it's slow here today.
But that's okay real life is more important anyway..I pop in and check what's going on when I can.

Yeah, weekends are slow
I did a quick candle of about half the eggs last night. Didn't even take them out of the racks, just shined the easiest ones to see. Had a few duds, several questionable at day 7, and many with strong veining. The strongest were from the splash rooster, and most duds were from the black. I kind of expected that. The black was third in line before the flock split, so his girls are still playing hard to get. He got a few, though

Great hope the hatch goes well....I'm looking into building one of Sallys cooler bators.....and trying to hatch out some of my ducks this spring.

That sounds like a fun project. I know sideWing has his Frankenbator and Walnut has lots of expertise on incubator electrical set-up, too.

Well the cool down has started...temps are slowly dropping.....maybe another trip on the ice before our trip down state.........my son said they haven't even froze yet. So no fishing down there. My daughter took time off work to come home and watch my ducks. She will probably use the time to catch up on her shows....she loaded my DVR up.

Awesome you have a duck-sitter. My neighbor or my Dad will come watch the chickens, but they have to be careful because Jack doesn't like anyone but me - and will go after strangers. I tell my Dad to just take the broom in with him.
