My neighbor brought over 2 hens today to replace the one her dog ate. I have them in the back brooder room right now, seperated from my measly two. I figure several days quarantined, then let them fight it out and figure out their pecking order.
Does a rooster get involved in the fighting at all? Today right after the hens came they were raising quite a ruckus. The rooster heard them and ran to the backroom and crowed at them. What ever he told them seemed to work, they settled down :/

Usually, it's just the hens... he'll probably tdy to mate them and they may or may not protest...

I just tossed my blue copper cockerel in with his dad and all the Marans hens, and dad stayed out of it while the hens taught the teenager a lesson...
