They'll be 9 months old. Perfect show ageUh...The Anderson Bantam Club host a show November 2016 at the T. E. Garrison arena.
No, but they did have garlic a while back. These eggs r a few weeks old, I just can't remember but definitely none of the above
How weird, surely it was just a fluke. I scrambled 18 eggs (all are small) so hopefully this won't happen again! Thanks for replying to my post![]()
Hopefully I will be NPIP this year, and as soon as that is done I'll get set up for shippingMaybe you'll have enough to get me on your waiting list next year.![]()
I hatched out a couple of exceptional turkeys from my flock, and it looks like Ravyn may have gotten one too. I've been stirring up the gene pool with non-APA color varieties (domestic turkeys are all one breed, so it's not a bad thing). I look forward to sharing my newest with you as he grows in his mature feathers. He's the turkey equivalent of a blue laced red Wyandotte, but the colors are not quite so bold.
Looking forward to pics of those!
I'm so sorry to hear that!Just found one of my new babies dead. They were all doing well at 4am. Don't know what happened? He was the last born and seemed very healthy. He was a pretty blue.![]()
I've been finding that the ones that have bigger pip holes and take the longest to hatch are getting sticky to some extent. I think because the more exposure to the inside of the egg, for extended time and the forced air make a great combo for them to get sticky. The chick with the bubble on the shoulder didn't make it but the bubble was gone within 24 hours and I don't believe had anything to do with it. SoThat's what I'm finding with the quail also. #10 hatched around 10:00 last night. When I moved 9 and 10 to the brooder, I had another one that had started to zip (before #9) but then stopped. It had been several hours and all he was doing was making a bigger hole. No rotation. So I moistened the membrane and put him back. The last other one with a pip had been rolled, so I uprighted it, and flicked the piece of shell off, and couldn't find a hole in the membrane. Dug a little bit to find the beak, opened the membrane a bit and dampened it too. A few minutes later, 11 and 12 started zipping and hatched around midnight. #12 came out with the most awful goo! Covered in it. And a bubble on his shoulder. Then #11 started crawling through it, so I quickly pulled 12 out and wiped it up, and wiped him off, got it out of his eyes, and put them back in. The last 2 (assisted ones) are still sitting in there, but I believe they will be mercifully culled when I get home. I'd love to see the one make it out, because its another blonde, but the one that made the huge hole will hopefully just give up. I don't think it stands much chance. But I'm very happy with 12!! Oh, #11 is a bit splay legged, but I didn't hobble it. We'll see if he improves today. This is #12:This morning. Its not hard like glue. Just crusty. He'll clean it off easily. But he's getting around fine so far.

I'm hoping they all pull through for you. And I don't brace legs until 24-48 hours later (unless it's extreme) because I've been finding if it's mild, it usually goes away as the leg muscles strengthen during the first day or two. Can't wait to see a group shot when they are all fluffy!I'm so sorry to hear that!![]()

Thanks! I actually meant to ask you about your bubble one, and forgot to add that! What do you think happened to yours?
I'm going to have hubby hold all of them in his hands, for size reference. I still can't get over how itty bitty they are. Really makes them hard to work on too, so I hope I don't have to band that one's legs! I agree with you, and I think being with the others will help.
