French frogs

Good morning everyone! Girls took their father out to feed a calf so I got a few minutes to myself :D. Hope everyone has a great day. Raven so glad to hear spice is improving! And Oz you will get things figured out with your stump, healing is not a instant thing you just have to do some releaning.

Dr. Oz just removed the shell. It had got dry around the pip hole but we kept dabbing cotton balls and Qtips with warm water to loosen him up. His little wing was glued over his right eye and he couldn't free to zip. We worked pretty quick and got him back in the bator. Here's pics. Looks like yolk sac is absorbed but there's green stuff that's usually yellow. He's pretty strong.

Awesome! He was stuck for a while, those are poops! Be sure he gets plenty of water.

Good morning everyone.

Oz, hope that chick finds her get up & go.

Rav, glad to hear Spice made her ducky sound!!

Got my ducklings this morning. The added a runt with splayed leg so I have 5 rather than just the 4 I ordered. Not feeling qualified to help the poor baby, but I'm trying. She can't maneuver herself to the food & water. Have the brooder blocked off so she's alone since the other ones were trampling all over her and pecking at the web behind her.

Talk about ruining what should have been a happy moment. Do you think they knew it had s splayed leg? Sorry!

So I just found a clutch of 24 eggs my 2 easter eggers were hiding. Some were dirty, I went ahead and washed them all and they all passed the sink test. Someone on here said the sink or float test did not mean they were old, just if an air bubbles had formed. So without a rooster, does the sink test work? I can just feed them all to the dogs and cats, but if unnecessary, would rather keep.

Ravyn I'm glad Spice is still hanging in there! What a little fighter she is! Honestly, I think she can feel the love which gives her more of a reason .....to live. Especially with all the TLC. I'm sure she's figured out your actions are helping her, keeping her safe and warm..& fed.. Animals are so amazing. I know I couldn't live without them

Different sink tests. The sink test to determine if an egg is still good enough to eat doesn't matter if there's a rooster or not. Fresh eggs will lay on the bottom. Semi-fresh eggs may stand up in the water, but stay near the bottom. Old eggs will float (because the air cell has grown large enough to float them) If they sink, they are fine!
