Frightful's been at it again! New COOL sighting, post 191

I've subscribed to this wonderful post in hopes that you've spotted her, or even better, the two of them.

Very touching story. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us.

Yeah, and I'm doing it while I'm driving which isn't such a good thing LOL.
Still haven't seen her, but the weather has been yucky. Clear days later this week and then I'll really be a road hazard as I go past 'her' spot.

Got Frightful's final weight. Guess my girl DID eat a lot of mice...

Total: 2428
Box: 885
Bird: 1543 (3.41 Pounds)

Frightful was 800 grams when I rescued her. In 6 weeks she almost doubled her weight. You'd never have known it by the strength in her as she flew away

Guess she was always a big girl with a healthy appetite, because those flight muscles were in prime condition.

Hopefully I'll be able to post that I've seen her & Romeo soon

Wow. I just got a call from a lady not too far from where I live about an owl being down. I may be going to get it on my lunch break, if it's still there. I hope it gets better and flies away. But if it doesn't, I'll remember to wear my gloves this time for SURE!

Hardest thing I've ever done, putting that baby owl up in a tree and walking away. Especially since it tried to climb back to me! And this after hissing and clicking and acting scared of me.
But as I carried it to the tree it stared into my eyes and I wonder if that's what got to it. I think we have the same color eyes. What do you think?

(sorry, kinda blurry)

Anyway, I climbed some cinderblocks and put the owl as high into a tree as I could reach. The tree was very close to neighborhood where it was found. And then drove away.

I'll check on the tree after work tonight.

No sign of Frightful yet.
Yes, suebee, I kinda wish they made a hawk caller. I also wish they made a tracking device small enough to be comfortable. But they don't (I checked). I was ready to blow my 'egg' $ if I could find one.

Yes, just a baby. A big baby, though!
A lady near my home called the raptor center because Baby was on the ground under a shrub, and neighborhod dogs and cats were tormenting it. I caught it, boxed it up and took it home. After talking to the rehab folks, and examining Baby for injuries, it was determined that the best thing for baby was Mom & Dad. So I took Baby and left her in a tree. Enough time had passed that the dogs & cats were into other things. I'm hoping Baby yelled for her folks and is back in their care.

Kinda cool on the eyes matching, I think. When I got my first driver's license the lady wanted to write 'yellow' for eye color but Daddy pitched a fit. Said they were hazel!! But some days they really are yellow.
Baby was staring into them as I carried her to the tree, and not hissing or 'popping' her beak at me any more.
