Yes, I feed chick starter or grower ration all their life (with oyster shell on the side). All of my frizzles are from ornamental breeds (Silkies and Cochins), not production type breeds. They don't lay as consistently as production birds, so I never feed them layer. They take the calcium they need from the oyster shell instead of getting it from every bite of layer.
I buy layer for my egg layers if its cheap. If its not, they get the same feed as my Silkies and Cochins.
Your frizzles wont need the feather fixer, there's nothing wrong with their feathers. Just treat them like any other chicken![]()
