From egg to chick!

Not yet. I don't know when is a good time to let him in? Or let her out? Idk.

If she's the only one laying, I'd do the latter for now. Short and sweet dates at first. Be aware that the "top" cockerel has a claim to the breeding females. If you do not want lil' guy going about his business, maybe hold him or something like that. Yes, he's probably going to scratch the heck out of you in order to free himself

Define short and sweet dates. Just let her out? (we have a fenced in front yard but she is small enough to squeeze through 2 spots where the gate meets the fence)

Short. Not over 10 minutes or so, gradually increasing as they get on more and more. Her being able to escape complicates things. A lot. It's up to you if you feel comfortable letting her out, based on how much she bolts, how friendly she is, and of course what your gut tells you

What kind? Pretty sure I can find make room
Satin, silkie, EE, or mixes of the previous three. I'll have some fresh cockerels coming up, just give me 4 weeks... then I'll have some satin x BR, RIR, and BA test chicks (trying to pindown what Chonkers genetic make up is) and some EEx BA.

Fizz Bang is our oldest EE rooster, he's really pretty and the hens I got with him are excellent layers, so I'm crossing him with my 4 yr old Black astraulorps who are super healthy and also really great layers! So, yeah, thrre may even be bonus free delivery cockerels involved.

PS: I'll be starting a hatch-a-long thread this week! Don't lose is Miss ElfenLied89!

Chonkers is def breed worthy. Look at those poses he does! (Hint hint drop a pic) And how big he is!

I need a bachelor pad area. I do have a back yard. No fence though. Hmmmmmmmmm....🤔🫣

Might be easier to lock them in together? Or something?

I have some more recent poses, and one of him cuddled in next to his fluffy girls who keep him warm on these cold night. He tries so hard to be tall 😊
