I havnt got any chickens of my own at the moment but know a couple of people who do and the kids and I were taking our garden pests over for the hens when we got eggs but just now there are too many to keep alive and healthy for the girls. So I have taken to popping them into a can in the freezer, things like 30 fresh boiled June beetles and grubs and tomato horn worms

I must admit, the lure of poisons is strong this time of year lol

What I want to know is, do we need to thaw the block of goodies to give to the girls or can we just throw the frozen hunk-a-bugs to the flock and let em pick it to bits?

Frozen should be OK, but are you really boiling the bugs? & I wouldn't feed them bugs that have eaten poison.

Imp- I think I'm missing something here.

I am pouring boiling water over the june bugs as they are so fast and dont want them all over the freezer but the others just go into the can. And no, no poison but it sure is tempting with the damage the bugs are doing to my sun flowers:barnie

I'm glad I live in Western Washington where there a very few fast big bugs.

Imp-maybe you could branch out with those tupperware popscicle making molds. Bugs on a stick.

I sold Tupperware for a while and I've used a ton of it for chick related things. It really can be used for everything lol.
We have june bugs here but I can't stand to walk outside to get them, if they don't land all over me it I crunch all over when I walk. Never thought about feeding them to the girls.
