Are you making fun of people like me who cant count.

I need to attempt to make a block before I commit but I am interested. I am scared about the amount of blocks, I have never committed to more than 3 before.

Yes she is making fun of people who can't count so if that's you and I WERE YOU I'd give her a piece of my mind.

I just made a test block. Seems really easy. Are the strips still 1.5 inches wide? Are we trimming the individual blocks down to 6" square or 6 and 7/8"

Here is my test block using 6 and 7/8 squares, 10" long strips that are 1.5" wide, trimmed to 6" square. Not perfect, but just a test

Very pretty, love the colors.

if the goal is 12 in finished block it would need to be trimmed to 6.5 inches, but if the goal is 12 in fin + seam allowance there should be no trimming needed, right?

I do like that block-great choice. On these busy days of summer, it would be a block I could just take a break and sew - no matching points or seams or several pieces and steps.
But, I do need to know how many we are to make before committing.
And, one more question.........would we make each of our blocks exactly the same or are we just making scrap blocks?

Acre, I like the bow tie block shown in the link, too. If you decide to host a mini bow tie block swap I'm in.

You will need to trim the individual blocks to 6 and 1/2 inches so when you put the 4 blocks together they should be 12 1/2 inchs, 6 1/2 inchs for the seam allowance. This way when you put them together they will be 12 1/2 inchs. When we put them all together they will be 12 inchs.

Yes the strips are still 1.5 inches wide.

I tried to make some things bold so it may be easier to understand. As I'm reading it I'm not sure if understand. lol

My DH went to work so I'm going to make one now. hehehehe I had to go help my Aunt out yesterday and didn't have a chance to make one.

Okay - I might actually have to MAKE a block to understand this better....

I'm really sorry, but I'm having trouble understanding this...
I think it is the language?? Too many "blocks" and too many "put togethers"

If we put four 6" blocks together, wouldn't it make 24" across??

or is each block with the slash across it one of 4 and then you put 4 together and it makes a 12x12 block???

So - then are we sending in 6" blocks or 12x12" blocks?

oh dear....am I making this more complex??
Sorry for my newbie questions

I think I'm going to actually TRY it and see if I understand better...sorry

Still trying to borrow my mother's machine...

Just thought I'd let you all know....I am on the phone with ginbart and she is going to sew 4 small blocks together so we can all see how the blocks will come together.
