FS: Hand Forged Hangers/Hooks UPDATED Pg 3

Terrie OMG LOL I did the same thing. BTW as soon as he makes the hooks to hang them, I will send you one if you need it.

He wants to offer up a full refund to someone who buys one and trains their chickens and/or ducks to come when it is rang. Sort of like a distance thing where they cannot necessarily see you but they can hear the bell and have them videtape it...first one to post the video here would get their purchase money refunded. I am still working out the details with him and will post specifics on that little "contest" later.

havi it is 8". He does them in approximately 5", 8" and 12".

A 12" like the one pictured which was sent to Terrielacy would be $35.00 + $5 shipping.

BreadNButterFarm please check your PM...I need you to measure the width of your door. I have measured several doors and all measured different widths. I am at a standstill without that measurement. I do not wnat it too wide or not wide enough.

I have measurements from 1" wide to 1 3/4" wide...big difference.

Hey Cetawin - I pm'd you back and sorry for the delay in replying. I surely don't want to slow down your hubby's progress and appreciate the care and concern for my neat hand forged items!

Got it and no worries. Just wanted to make sure it fit the door.

He will start working on them today.

Hey this is neat!

Does your hubby do iron works for Civil War gear?

Such as tent pole hangers, iron basin stand with a long hook on back for hanging mirror-this item fold down flat, shepherd hook fashioned into holding hubby's coats, haversack, his rifle...these items are HEAVY!

And iron fire grate, non of that cheap thin irons I have seen in some sutlerys, they would sag under the heavy weight of dutch ovens and large iron skillets. It is a flat grate with Y posts-- that you hammer into the ground above the pit and you lay the grate on top of the y posts.

Let me know of the costs!

Thanks!

I would not mind a set of those fire pit cookware set and a big server spoon!

It would be neat to be authetic as possible for those kind of things! At least we try to mimic Civil War times which machinery made iron things are not common! most of the iron they did back then are handmade and it took them alot of time to do it!

EweSheep...that is so cool. Umm yes everything he and the master make everything in a 1800's period blacksmith shop...there is no electric in the building whatsoever...coal forges and so forth. They evern make their own tools to use.

They do everything from the late 1600's - present day. A great heavy enough to work with your dutch oven and so forth with the Y's is not a problem whatsoever.

Our roommate is a retired green beret who is a re-enacter and has done extras in various movies. He does civil war, rev war, spanish american war and one other period...so we have all the reference materials and old diagrams of items from those periods.

So, if you would give me a list of what you want prices on and the approximate measurement of the items, I can get him working on pricing for you. As to the cookware...what items specifically do you have in mind and do you want a pattern or plain period style?

Just for grins and giggles...take a peek at these photos:

This is just one shot of part of the blacksmith shop interior: (You can see the Master's huge bellows in the right corner

This is my husband's anvil made in 1888 and weighs 211 lbs. The master uses a 500 lb anvil. They have 150 lb and a 95 lb for smaller pieces.

This is his smallest forge which is 107 years old and was built in 1902.

I really get amazed at watching DH and Jim work.

So, just give me a list of sorts to work with for him.

Need prices on all items above listed.

Usually I would start off something small and work my way up to bigger and more expensive items like the fire grate grill and its expensive to ship too. UPS would be the way to go!

The fire grate and iron hangers to hang on tents may be the most pressing need I have right now.

Just quote prices and we will see how we can arrange this. My first event is on the 19th of June so we got some time to deal with.
