@igorsMistress I wonder if your Mexican Bird of Paradise is going to have the orange colored flower's on it like the one along my driveway has. If you prune them down in the winter they come back bushier. I'm thinking it might be planted too close to the fence.

I'm worried it'll get too big in there but I need to prep a spot for it where I want to put it. Yes, it does have the red orange flowers. I have one in my front yard too, this one isn't very old though.

The wild rabbit's love to hide under mine. When I first moved here we had jack rabbit's, but now the cotton tail's have taken over. There also seem's to be a family of squirrels that have moved into the neighborhood.

We have quail and there was a rabbit around for a while. We've had a pair of owls that were frequenting our yard when we had quail but I don't think they hang around as much now. I did hear one hooting at dusk last night. Maybe we'll have a pair again this season.

We coated an old closet door with flex seal to keep it from rotting quickly and used it for a cover area. The soil is very loose there and it's a favorite place for dust baths.

Mealies are doing great. We have second generation worms that are pupating. It sounds like it's raining when I'm near the bins.

I need to decide if I'm going to leave them where they are and let the cooler temps in that room naturally slow their growth rate or move them to a warmer room so they continue to multiply.

How warm do they need to be?

It's about 80 to 85 in there at the peak of summer, which is pretty ideal and I'm not sure how cold it'll be in winter.60 to 70 maybe during the day but cooler at night. Wouldn't slow them too much I think.

Looking at those last picture's that you posted @igorsMistress A thought popped into my head, being that they say that an apple a day keep's the doctor away, but it's plain to see that they won't keep the bug's away.

I found another anthill today and took care of it. I haven't lost neither of the 2 remaining chick's since I killed that snake, so I guess that problem has been solved.

I can't wait til this weekend. I get to go pick up more birds! Saturday is another brown NN pullet. Sunday is a trio with a Blue Copper Marans pullet, 55 Flowery pullet, and a Blue Birchen Marans. All in the 4-5 month old range, and for free!
The birds on Sunday are original flock mates with the Dampierre boys I recently got.
:wee

Trim, those sound like lovely birds! Hope you'll share a picture or two :)
