@igorsMistress How's that other boy doing? I'm curious as to how he will grow out. Like I said, the only other one that had that coloring was one of the ones that got ate up by the ant's last year. Then this year a snake ate the 2 female hatch mates of those 2 boy's.

Minnow traps work great for snakes. I meant to mention this to you before I kept being distracted by... anything and everything. I have never trapped a snake like this and I alway figured that the snake can just slither out of it because they are very good at finding openings however if they just swallowed an egg they can't get out ... plus others on BYC say they catch snakes in them and the snakes can't get out without eating an egg. Careful, just because their head can't get through the mesh doesn't mean venom carrying fangs can't. Handle with Care!

I found it interesting the way the chicks and chickens reacted actually. The white chick was fairly well accepted with just a few tiffs here and there.

The current consensus is the other boy is silver penciled on the thread I started about his coloring. He was clearly an intruder who must be banished! Everyone had similar reactions and the white and Dorking boys had to be removed because I was afraid they'd kill the little guy. They are still in jail and how long will be determined by how well the penciled boy gets on with the rest of the chicks. I really want him to work out because I'm curious what he'll look like as an adult.

The gopher snake that did it is already dead, and became a good meal for the buzzard's. 6 of those fought for it, and ant's finished cleaning off what was left on the bones. It won't be back to bother mine, nor anyone else's flock.

That's a good tip Compost King!

Hey @Compost King what are the birds in your avatar? Is the one on the left a AC?

One is the grandson of an AC. the other is a CX.
The Grey meat is a mix of Ayam Cemani, Red Ranger, and Naked Neck. I was actually shocked that he had grey meat because his brother did not. Although his brother may have been half brother cousin since I was breeding 2 sisters to my Naked Neck. Also his Ayam Cemani Grandfather was likely a mix as well sold to me as a pure Ayam Cemani by people with less than desirable credibility.
I was not expecting Grey Meat when I processed him I had no idea that grey meat was even possible.

That's interesting...I don't think I've ever seen mention of gray meat. Have you cooked him up yet?

I had a friend who ate the hind quarters and he usually says "yeah its ok" or "Yeah it was good" when I give him chicken meat to sample. He was very enthusiastic after eating this meat. He even said he was not sure if he wanted to try it but he did. He eats a lot wild animal meat because he hunts. I was supposed to eat the breast meat but It took so long to eat the CX meat that I figured the grey meat went bad... to be honest I was afraid to try it and kept putting it off until it was over a week old and tossed it. I need to be in the right mind set to try it.
