Fugly Farm

Captured the ducks, it was easier than I thought. Pip broody pooped all over my son so he had to borrow clothes from Aiden. It was pretty nasty. So they’re gone but to a good home. I’m sad but happy. The bunnies are going to love their new space and if the weather clears up tomorrow I can get started.

That was a big decision to make, but at least you know they are going to a good home and you can visit whenever you want.

Yeah, I’m going to miss them. It was the right decision though. We need the freedom, the bunnies need the space and I’m tired of my house smelling like a barn. I need more space for indoor gardening as well, mostly for vegetable and herb starts.

I’ve been looking extensively at pictures of outdoor rabbit colonies for ideas for the yard. I found that idea for burrows, and I read that if I put a piece of wood in the middle of the enclosure propped on a brick, that’s most likely where the females will dig. I’m hoping that works!

I came across a website for a feral rabbit rescue that calls their run a rabbitat. One of their ideas is caged herbs for the rabbits to nibble. I love that idea and I’m going to try it out this year with pots and saucers surrounded with tomato cages wrapped in chicken wire. I have everything for that on a small scale already.

We have two metal chairs that don’t have seats for various reasons. Instead of putting in the bulk trash I’m going to spray paint them pretty colors, replace the seat part with wood and use them for plant stands/cover for the buns. I’m also thinking about painting the coops something other than white but can’t decide on a color. Maybe a light green.

Will you be getting more rabbits IM?

Sounds like you have some fun ideas to work on!

No just these two. I want to give them a chance to be outside and kick up their heels and be real bunnies when it’s suitable. They could potentially adjust to full time living outdoors but I’m keeping their pen inside for when it’s really hot. I’m taking off the exterior portion though and setting up my seed starting area in that space.

He's so sweet looking when he sleeps :love

Where's your little girl, was she napping too?
Yes, she’s curled up here beside me. We went to the park and they were a mess afterward so had a bath and a snuggle. Spoiled?
