Fugly Farm

IM, look how large Igor has gotten. The hen in the background is his mama. He definitely got some brahma genes. This probably sounds a little perry, but his behind is just awesome.

The second picture is blurry, but you can see how large he is in relation to my boxer, Ruby.

We will be processing the five cockerels this weekend. The fruit trees are dead so they’re going back to Lowe’s for store credit. I’m going to spend that on some pavers for inside the shade garden to help keep the weeds down once we pull all of them in there. I’m going to skip a spring garden this year, too many irons in the fire. I need to get the house done and deal with new chicks in February so I may try some melons this summer and have a fall garden instead. We need to have a yard sale and get rid of the rest of my moms stuff, plus whatever we have that needs to go. At that point whatever doesn’t go will be sent to Goodwill. Plus I need to paint the coop and scrub it out before it gets too warm again. I’d like to revamp it a bit but not sure I can talk Igor into it. I may just get my son to come help me. I have two bales of straw I need spread around also. I’m not sure if the Vitex are still alive but they aren’t looking great. If they don’t make it I may add one more Arabian lilac, I seem to do ok with those. From what I’ve read they drop their leaves when it’s cold and we did get close to freezing a couple times in December. Keeping my fingers crossed they’re ok. Elvis is definitely feeling his oats as the days start to lengthen. He’s quiet in general, just some crows here and there, but there’s not not a girl in the yard who is safe first thing in the morning :gig At least he’s occupied with that rather than coming after me.

Sounds like plenty enough to keep you busy IM!

Holy cow, he’s huge Janie. He’s gorgeous though, I love his color! Have you hooked him up yet?

What? Do I look like a pimp? 🤣
Seriously, no. He is just a yard ornament.
Only one of the brothers has a girl pal so far. She goes over the 4' chicken yard fence and lays her egg. Ivan (the legbar mix) sits with her, then walks her back to the fence. He is the only one she will breed with. And the others 3 boys don't bother her. It's pretty strange. I've never seen such layed back cockerels.
Here's a picture of the two of them

That’s so cool they don’t fight about it! They’re all beautiful Janie! So do they all like to hang out with you outside?

They do. They will follow me and the dogs for a few hundred yards before getting distracted.
They are going further from there coop. I've had to go round them up a few times to keep them on our property.

That's interesting about Ivan and his girlfriend.
