Thanks ladies. I lost another. Tarot was obviously struggling yesterday; I managed to capture her first thing this morning and bring her inside for care but she passed a couple of hours ago. It is only 108 out there but the real feel is easily 115+

I asked my son for a couple of Nn girls, he can’t take Elvis and the rest of my flock and really, it’s not any better at his house. He has 11 roosters :eek:I don’t want to freezer camp these guys, so I am down to four girls now until I get those, maybe over the weekend. Elvis is a rather amorous rooster and all of the girls get his attention on the regular.

Sorry to read that IM :hugs

Last night the teenager helped me remove the top panels of wood from the front of the coop. I’ve been running the fan every night, and the temp inside hasn’t been any warmer than the outside, I’ve checked. I looked in on the crew a few times overnight and with the tree out there they seemed to be ok with it and the street light is blocked pretty well. Today ifor breakfast they’re having electrolytes mixed into their feed and a little scratch with a few blueberries added for fun. And a few BSFL.

I’m not sure if someone broke eggs accidentally or if one exploded from the heat, but one nest box was a mess so I need to clean it out. They all fight over the one so one is enough for now.

I was going to get a couple of pullets from my son, but since I have girls that go broody I’m going to let someone hatch a few either late this Fall or next Spring. It’s easier than trying to integrate older birds into the flock.
