Been busy outside today. Hubs is almost done putting up the wire around the raised beds. I made a mixture of five bricks of coco coir and three bags of lava rock for the dragon fruit plants

Washed all the soil of the roots of the plants and tossed one because it had a moldy spot. The base of the planters and the pipe are filled with several inches of pea gravel. Then I put the coco and lava rock in. I’m using the ties off bales of straw to hold them to the pipe because I couldn’t find my usual stuff.

It will be interesting to see how the dragon fruit does for you IM...keep us posted!

No gate yet but the wire is on

Went to check on food and water for the crew this afternoon and noticed that Attila has considerably more white in her plumage after her molt. I’ve read that SS do that as they age, but think she’s prettier now too. She makes me think of winter.

Work inside the shade garden is temporarily on hold; I’ve decided where to put the old sink and have an idea for keeping it upright. This week I’m going to paint the pickets (finally) so we can build the little fence and get that area situated on Friday. I have some metal chicken silhouettes to put in front of the fence, then the sink. I suppose I’ll plant an aloe in the large side, but not sure yet about the shallow side. I might use a plug and a piece of bamboo so the bees can use it, or the birds. I also have a birdbath made of concrete that I painted bright orange back in the day. 🙈 I think I’m going to paint that and use it again.

All your plans sound great IM. Would love to see a picture of Attila, I love SS!
