Based on the breeds of ducks at my sons, I think Ripley is a mix of Ancona with my former drake Jasper. Jasper is a Swedish blue/black Runner mix. Not my pic, just an example of the breed.

I went egg hunting today, I’ve only had one duck egg the last few days and no chicken eggs had been located. I checked the nests just on the odd chance someone might use them as intended. Lo and behold, Stormy lays green eggs. I knew she should start laying soon, love the color!

July was the second hottest month EVER in the valley since records have been kept. Surpassed only by July 2023. August looks to be hotter than normal, for most of the country.

Took down the shelter built from junk around the yard. Nobody uses it since Elvis and Toast aren’t here to bully them. Still need to move those blocks, but I’m soaked already so tomorrow.

Used a couple of the blocks and all the long pieces of lumber to support the roof over the ducks pool. This also extends the shade a bit.

I’ll drain the pool tonight and use these pavers and bricks, plus a few more laying around here, to cover the ground under there to keep some of the mud down and prevent the ducks from digging near the blocks
