Fugly Farm

I miss having a rooster in some ways, and the crowing never bothered me. Phoenix was really after the ducks though and making them quack all day, plus the crowing all night. It was just easier and not having to worry about a broody sitting on fertile eggs is a plus too. I’m not in the mood to deal with chicks.
I'm glad your ducks are doing well with the hens. I'm constantly taking eggs away
from these little bantam girls.

I’ve never had a hen as broody as Attila was this year, she was crazy about it! The ducks I’m not surprised, they come from a very broody bunch. My son and DIL kept ending up with broods of babies all summer.

I bet the birds are enjoying your cooler temps IM!

What is that gorgeous flower...is it an Amaryllis?

Bells of Fire? I don’t remember but I like the colors. There’s a hummingbird in there now, so cute.

The chickens are going to be super happy little campers. I picked up a new bag of scratch for them and it has some corn in it. Also got them some greens and the ducks will get some peas. I only give the scratch once a week and usually toss it out while it’s still dark so they have to look for it.

Temps are about ten degrees above normal, we even hit 81 a day or two last week. No rain either, and not much snow in the high country either. We are expected to drop near normal for a few days , then back to the mid 70’s.

Your chickens and ducks are going to think they are having their own version of Thanksgiving with the treats:)

Hopefully you get some rain or even snow in the high country soon. I do like the sound of your 70's temps compared to our chilly ones.

Yes the weather is beautiful right now, but I am afraid of what that might mean for summer 😬
