I didn't plant much this year.Blessed in one way and cursed in another. I guess that’s par for the course. How is your garden though? Doing well? I don’t have one right now, just some Roselle but plan Ni ing for herbs and greens in the cool months.
They say gardening is an act of faith in the future so I guess I have some doubts.

I did get in the ground, 100 onions, four courgette plants which have provided 47 courgettes up to now and the plants are still flowering, some wild rocket which bolted the first hot spell, 10 beetroot for making Borscht which I make a lot of and freeze.
I didn't look after the fruit bushes and what fruit they produced got eaten by the pigeons. I'm going to try and move most of this later this year to a bird proof cage originally meant to contain geese.
In fact, I'm trying to move a lot of plants from the field into the extended chicken run to provide more diversity at the expense of nettles, some type of grass that grows in clumps which the chickens don't eat, thistles, and various other weeds. I may have started a life long project; daft for a 70 year old.

I've also been busy, at a very slow pace

The hens main man, Henry, a truly lovely chap, died a couple of months ago. He was 9 going on 10, so a decent shout for the breed. Fret, 7 years old, about, died a few weeks after Henry and one of their daughters called Tull, only a pullet really, died of a heart attack a couple of weeks ago.
