The Nn chick here is 6 weeks old on Monday and the EE I got for a buddy should be fairly close to the same. I put them outside this morning so just the smallest chicks are in the brooder inside now.

I don't have time this weekend to whitewash but the coop was sanitized yesterday morning. These 2 were getting sick of the tiny chicks I think.

I switched to the galvanized feeder for inside brooder and put some fresh dirt in their bath. I love tge smell of the pine pellets from TSC.

Here are the Nn chicks, 4 weeks, smallest to biggest

The Dorking/Red Ranger mixes, 3 weeks. The first had a black chipmunk stripe and has some white on the wings. The second had a brown chipmunk stripe, no white on the wings so far. The second chick has a longer tail than the first...I wonder if one's a roo.

That EE is showing some pretty coloration.

The Pullets for the Dork-O's possible feathered faster because the father feathered faster than the mother(s). The Dork X the mothers feathered faster than the father so all of them supposedly ended up feathering at the same rate. I never tested the theory with them though.

The way these two are feathering out will make it easy to keep track of who is who so I guess we'll see. With the slower feathering and short tail, I'm thinking one pullet and one roo. That's been my luck this year so far, almost a perfect 50/50 split in each hatch.

That EE is showing some pretty coloration.

She's really a pretty bird, I kinda like her. Sweet personality too. Her head hasn't feathered out yet so she's in that ugly stage.

It hasn't and no worries if it was! The red necks are like a tan, the more time they spend in the sun the redder they get. I haven't seen a sunburn or noticed any skin issues at all.

Hmmm... Interesting. I've just hit the post with pictures of Trims dogs. Do you put sunblock on those guys @Trimurtisan?

I so hope the naked neck phenos also have crests.
Their crests looks like they can still see just fine, almost like a flat top to me.
