Fugly Farm

I read that with the SGD's you can tell for sure what sex that they are by the time that they are 5 to 6 week's old. By then the males will have the black chest feathering, but not the girl's.
That sounds about right. Cuckoo and her brother were about the same size at hatch but he had a darker chipmunk stripe. Hers was brown his looked black. That was pretty early on

My SGD's are already 6 week's old now, so that's how I know that one of them is a cockerel. That's ok though, because I will keep him and breed him later. I still have to figure out what to name him yet. I'll be having to get up at about 3 AM in the morning to go with my DH to drop him off for that operation, and then I have to drive back here.

That's the 2 of the Dorking mixes in that pic. You can see they're pretty different in color.
I'm glad you're pleased with your SGD chicks. Good luck to your hubs tomorrow!

Had to wait 30 minutes before someone came out to the car to do the covid test on him, then another 30 minute's to say that he was ok on that. About a 1 hour drive each way. I had to stay in the car. That's a long time to go without an available bathroom. They are keeping him overnight when they get done with the operation.

Glad his test was negative.

He's going to feel better afterward. Might take a bit but much better eventually.

Hey IM and BlueBaby, have either of you seen the posts about the NN Haybale? It's not one continuous thread, but this is the lastest one with a fun short video: #17
I hadn't seen that, too cute, thanks for sharing!
