Thank you! I've looked at those. It's something I'm going to show hubs and get his opinion on. I'm already running 2 fans out there so those might work inside the coops themselves and may not add too much humidity to the air like misters do.Have you heard of making an inexpensive cooler using a 5g bucket, ice and a fan! Here's a link to how it's done! In an outdoor situation, I would also try to insulate the outside of the bucket...just a thought!

He's a handsome guy!The mix will be 3 month's old in a couple of day's. Keep in mind that it's mother was a Silver Grey Dorking/Red Ranger mix.
@igorsMistress This one is Roger's upcoming replacement.

You're welcome! I just got to thinking about your temps and your poor chickens and remember seeing these! I think I will make one for my coop next year...I have room in my freezer to freeze a few gallon jugs of water and I could just swap them out when they've served their purpose. I wish I had thought of this when our temps were 108, but now our weather is starting to cool down, that's why I will wait until next summer! Our humidity is relatively low, so I don't think that would be an issue here, especially once we finish the rest of the ventilation for the coop! I hope it's a cheap solution that could work for you!Thank you! I've looked at those. It's something I'm going to show hubs and get his opinion on. We are usually very dry as well. I put out blocks of ice in a kiddie pool and as they melt the girls can stand in the cool water and sip it which really helps. However, having a cool retreat would be better. You're welcome! I just got to thinking about your temps and your poor chickens and remember seeing these! I'll bet he's pretty. I can't wait to see what hatches from my eggs. I'm going with a boy that is raised within the flock, usually the best bet don't you agree?.@igorsMistress There's another one from the same hatch almost like Bigfoot here, but this one doesn't have the red in the coloring and it only has the 4 toes on each foot. Only 3 month's old and almost as big as the hen's are already.

I hope so too, he seems like a nice guy. When I bought Roger he was already old enough to know that he was a cockerel. I had him in with Charley and Charley didn't bother him much. I let starri33 take Charley for the NN pullet's that she has for breeding, and I started using Roger when he started breeding. Then I got more hen's for gene diversity, but now it's time for me to use another roo. I will be using Bigfoot, and the Silver Grey Dorking cockerel for breeding when they are old enough. Roger is a good roo, so I hope that someone will take him and continue to use him for breeding.
That's fantastic IM! Makes me want to hatch eggs again...I haven't hatched any since our kids were little!I candled the eggs and 11/15 have veins starting to develop. Today is day 4.
