Thanks so much for the link NFC. Hubs ordered 4 pullets for me for our anniversary, they’ll be here in April. I had no idea and was surprised he’d been paying attention when I talked about them. Talk about surprises!

That's a wonderful anniversary present! :woot

Our anniversary is tomorrow, number 8. You probably have me beat on that.

Happy Anniversary! Do you have any plans? We stayed home, ours was our 29th on 12/28, but we had a small bottle of our favorite type of dessert wine on New Year’s Eve to celebrate.
Yes it is a wonderful gift! I guess he put himself on the notification list so he would know when they were available and since it’s a small order had to wait until April. Which is fine because I’m not ready for them anyway. All the little things he’s been saying make sense now though. I only know already because he didn’t want me to go buying any chicks lol.

That's just such a thoughtful present! I'm looking forward to seeing pictures already :) Happy belated anniversary to you and Igor!

We don't really have any special plans other than to just have a nice day.

Thank you!I hope it’s a wonderful day for you both :hugs
I had read that the EFs have a natural resistance to some diseases, including Marek’s, and was talking about maybe trying them instead of the Nn for a while. I’m very excited!

I hope the resistance bit is true, that would be reassuring. I don't know anyone that raises them, you'll be the first for me to follow along with!

I’ve read quite a bit about scientific studies to find out why they are resistant, just need to go read the studies themselves. Possible resistance to virulent New Castle as well, but I need to read more about it all. I’ll be doing some research about them and posting here with links to what I find.

It is cold outside! I wore my big fuzzy sweatshirt over a tank top and a long sleeved fleece this morning while I filled pots with dirt and sowed seeds. I put in both San Marzano and Texas something tomatoes, the latter are a cherry variety, green beans, luffa, buttercup squash, Armenian cukes, Thai peppers and jalapeños. I have Yukon gold seed potatoes coming in February but those will go in grow bags. Talked with hubs about expanding the garden before we put the walls up, he knew that was coming  There was ice inside the bag of soil so will definitely be putting the row cover over these guys at night for a bit

Scientific study on Marek’s resistance in Fayoumi and other breeds. Chicks were unvaccinated against the disease. Fayoumi are not the only breeds that show resistance.

Article about the history of the modern Fayoumi.
