Fugly Farm

I'll be curious to hear how your walking onions do. I finally looked up what they are, they sound interesting.
I will let you know. I hadn’t heard of them before but they were suggested as a companion for the apple tree.

Getting a refund from the worm seller on Amazon and going to the AZ worm farm this weekend to get some.

Set up the grow light

I know people make tea with comfrey IM, but is there something else you'll use it for?

It’s a chop and drop mulch for the apple tree. It can be cut back and left on the ground to provide…I dunno something for the apple tree. My brain is on vacation so I can’t tell ya why for anything at the moment but it’s good for the buns too. And people.

Ok, never thought about it as a mulch. Interesting!

Chop and drop mulch works kind of like a forest or jungle. The plants provide different things for each other. Some fix nitrogen, others draw minerals from deep in the soil. As leaves drop and plants live and die, they all provide what they’re made of back to the soil. Much more beneficial than using a commercial fertilizer in the long run.

At this worm farm we’re going to they use raised walkways that act as swales to trap water. I’m going to try something similar in our yard. Sorry, blabbering on about it.

Made the burrows and got them almost done. They’re in the mini house because the ground was easier to dig. Also, I do plan to get chickens again and the big coop is better for even just a few full time than the little one.

For now there’s fresh straw on the floor and a pool that I’m going to fill with hay in the large one. The trash can is for hay storage and I’ll put some water in there.

I’ve decided to leave this chair white and keep the back on it. Hubs is going to cut a piece of wood to put on the seat area so I can put a plant on there and it’ll be a shaded area/cover for the buns.

This chair I’m going to paint. We have yellow so yellow it is. Then add some wood for a plant. I’m going to add a second door for the rabbits to get out of the structure behind it. The door to get in their house still has the two little pop doors on the bottom for them to use as well. The pot there has some romaine lettuce seed in it and I hung the window box on the fence and planted leaf lettuce in that.

Done enough for this to be moving day. I found some decent pieces of paver and a few bricks laying around so the entryway is more foot traffic friendly. I have more wood I can put on top of the barrows if this all works out, but taking a wait and see approach before putting in a lot of effort. I am going to add the cooling station to the coop though, but it’s not necessary right now and I need more blocks.
