Fully Formed chicks not hatching

I had the same thing for my first hatch this year...only got 6 out of 35. THis time I ran the humidity at 20-25% during incubation. Tossed only 2 for infertility and now have them on lockdown. I bumped the humidity to 85% for hatch and lowered the temp a little. This morning I had 2 now have 7 out and a bunch more pips! They seem to be hatching much easier this time. Tomorrow is day 21 at noon so they are running a day early. I felt so bad last time because of all the fully formed and dead ones! THis time I just wanted to set and leave them alone.

it seems to be working! Terri O (PS) GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

i've had the same problem with eggs from my hens, i've only gotten 4 babies out of maybe 14 eggs? i hatched 14/15 from a breeder that i bought to see if it was my incubator... nope, just my eggs.

sad...

Hi, I back with the living...Ok out of the 36 eggs I bought 13 were clear and 9 hatched no problem, but the rest were developed, but no more hatched. I'm with you, what causes that? I did however have 4 Boston Terrier pups and the rest of my 9 chicks and my new Sportsman incubator came, so maybe that will help. I'll let you know...did you get any more eggs?

I did the oxine that Karen gave me, darn that did'nt work! You put two tlbs. to a quart of warter and dip each egg in it and dry off before placing in incubator. I did 35 %humidity because that is what it stayed at on its own, then day 18 I bumped up to 60% and the next to 65%, but 9 healthy...so why would they be so healthy and the other grow, but not hatch out. This time I will put them upright in old time egg cartons with the bottoms cut out.

I'm starting to think I'm addicted to hatching but mostly because I'm determined to get it right! So yeah I've got more eggs in the works lol
I've got lavenders and whites coming my way soon. I'm also getting some favorelle eggs to hatch because I'd like to keep a couple hens for the eggs. I've got whites that are laying but I'm holding off on incubating their eggs until I work on who's in my pen and sell off some of the girls. They are all pretty and definitely good BQ but I'd like to be a bit more selective before I start with hatching. *HOPEFULLY* the eggs that aren't shipped will give me a lot easier of a time then shipped eggs

I haven't seen much of a difference between cartons and laying them flat

I've got oxine and brinsea disinfectant sitting right next to me and I'm trying to figure out which one to try next. I'm seriously considering weighing all my eggs to make sure they are losing the right amount of weight. I may just not be getting the humidity right and not knowing when I look at the air cells candling.

I have hatched 2 sets of silkies and was told to run humidity around 42 - 45% for the first 18 days then up to 60% for lockdown, I have had to help a couple when the membrane hasdried too much, maybe try getting the humidity up a little higher for the first 18 days. I use a 1508 to incubate and a 1602 with a fan installed for lockdown...... around a 92% hatch rate so far....

I'm just now trying with the humidity around what you suggested I think it's a good idea. I'm also hands off the incubator during lock down and 2-3 days after the first one has hatched that way the membranes aren't at as much risk of drying out. Rub some of your good hatching luck off one me?? Please???

i have a g.q.f. bator have hatched turkeys ducks and geese it has the bucket with the water tray i keep it full all the time . still spray warm water on eggs and leave the door open by mistake . all the eggs get wet from day one til hatch sometimes even for get to move eggs to hatch tray . hatched about 65 turkey eggs out of 80 geese 58 out of 63 and chickens and ducks to many to count . what i think to much thinking and not enough common sense . let the eggs cool every once in a while the hen has to eat and drink so she leaves the nest if she gets hot she cools off so this is my reasoning and my bator is in a control temp room

Honestly at this moment I wish I had a broody hen LOL I have silkies and I'm wishing for one to be broody!

Just need one to sit on my lavender eggs lol so I can get a few more chicks at least! Who wants to bet when I don't want any of them to be broody they will all decide to sit?
