So, last night we went to the Detroit Zoo for their Wild Summers event (wine tasting and late night zoo viewing after the zoo closes.... oh my god best zoo experience of my life- NO KIDS ALLOWED!!!!). They let me and my friends into the kangaroo walkabout area, and inside there was a momma peahen and three little babies she was leading around. They were tiny, with just their primaries and a couple shoulder feathers, everything else was down, and one of my friends asked how old they were. I said they look like maybe 2 weeks or less (no crest feathers yet at all). The volunteer in there with us LAUGHED at me, and said (in a really snotty tone) "They're *two months* old."
Oh snap! No you didn't just argue peachick age with me in front of my friends!
I said No they're not, they aren't big enough for one, they don't have the right feathering for two. You're sure it's these particular ones that are two months?
Figured I'd give him an out... But nope. He was all "Nope, two months!"
So I said dude, I raise them. I know what a two month old peachick looks like. It's not this.

He just gave me a look like "Silly zoo attender what do you know" and then we kept seeing him all night... and my friends, who had been drinking wine all night, got progressively louder about announcing "THERE'S YOUR PEACOCK GUY" every time until it was the end of the night and we were by the music and one of them SHOUTED it... and I turned around and he was standing there... staring at me and smiling.
I didn't say hi, but I should have. He was kinda cute...
