~>Fury of the Wind<~ (A Bird RP)

Moonlight ate up the air with great, wide strokes of her wings. "So, where could we find a pigeon, an owl, and a gull?"
It was frustrating to have no idea, but she knew Blizzard would find them no matter the circumstances. He always stuck to his word.

Riski nodded at the gull. Fish Stick's grey and white wings seemed to be weighed down by boulders, but he flew on without complaining. Riski was beginning to feel the effects of the claustrophobic forest weighing down on him as well. Sure, he had been from the savannah to exotic places that the locals apparently called "Missouri," but he still hadn't gotten used to going through trees. His scowl deepened as his long flat wing hit a branch. Also, this forest seemed dark and sinister, though that could have just been the long shadows of another lazy summer afternoon. Whatever these ravens were like, they were strange to want to live here.
Blizzard had a focussed look in his eyes. Ignoring her question, he simply asked, "Where did you last see them?"

Fish Sticks felt like he was fighting against gravity with every flap. He wasn't used to flying this much, especially without wind to aid him. But he knew they should stay under the canopy; it would make it harder for Vaatras and his gulls to follow them.

Pigeon
Name: Russet
Age: 4 years
Gender: m
Personality: Rather friendly and outgoing but has an abrasive sense of humor. He was timid at a young age, but now will fight with admirable bravery if it is for Cement's sake.
Description: Ash red bar. He is larger and rounded with orange eyes.
Rank/Status: gang member (Cement's gang)
Family (if significant): brother eaten by a night-stalker. Mother murdered by Sulliver's gang because of a discrepancy. Father's whereabouts unknown.
Mate: Cement maybe???
Chicks: none
History: Russet's family was in constant fear of the threat of Sulliver. Russet knew it wasn't safe. His father was already gone. His brother -of which he cared little for- was dead. When his mother was found dead, Russet was all alone. And he felt like a target.
He was reluctant to join a gang, but a clever young pigeon was assembling one. It wasn't about greed or anything. They felt safe with each other. They fought for each other. Now Russet is one of the "vetrans" in the gang, and fights with loyalty and bravery.

"They were last seen on a bit of forest on the southeastern edge of Raven territory, an area they rarely patrol. I deduce that the criminals flew deeper into Raven forest, a daunting prospect. That's why I brought you along, to scout them out in enemy territory." Moonlight cast a glance over Blizzard's face. He always got that look when he was thinking. He's on to something.

Riski skidded to a stop and was greeted by a jarring amount of pine needles jabbing into his delicate webbed feet. I'll never get used to landing in pine forests. To add insult to injury, the trees seemed to laugh as they swallowed up his view of the sun. I'll never understand why anyone would get used to landing in pine forests.
"I think we're safe now," Riski said. He took a few short breaths before his respiration returned to its normal, steady tempo. His gull friend seemed to be struggling at even managing a single breath. Riski gave him a hearty slap on the back with one of his overpowered wings. This only seemed to achieve further complications.
Ravens. Riski remembered the fearful look in the gull's hardened faces when they mentioned that name. Why would a bunch of ravens send them flying back?
Somehow, he couldn't find the imagination to think that perhaps they were just lazy.

Claw smirked. "That's fine by me," she said, "as long as you aren't gonna run away." She turned and flew up onto a lower branch. "I'll be waiting here."
At his last words, she lazily stretched a wing. "Sure.. wouldn't want the boss to know you almost got your neck snapped." She grinned at him from above.

Splash, who was watching the sky where the lieutenant and Blizzard had disappeared, jumped at his appearance. "Oh. Hey there, Earl." He said in a friendly way, "How's Paula?"
He raised his eyebrows. "He isn't gonna come to you, doll. You gotta come to him." He said in amusement. "You can see how that complicates things."

(Name's Ronald ;)) Ronald only responded by making some unintelligible, disgruntled noises. He paced back and forth in a circle, making sharp turns and talking rapidly. "....Empty-headed.............Ungracious...............................MILLENNIALS."
These were the only words anyone could make out of what he was saying. He shouted that last word into the sky as if it was the very sun that offended him.

Little pink pigeon toes stepped along the eroding pavement, scrabbling over tiny stones and bits of things. A clever grey beak pecked between the grits for crumbs as Russet helped himself to his customary late-day meal.
His head bobbed with the comforting rhythm of peck peck peck and the knowledge that everything was in balance. His gang looked peaceful, with none of the fear they often wore when they first joined. We are a tried group of comrades. We've been together for a long time.
No one was hungry or scared. With Cement, the rag-tag group of pigeons had established some sort of refuge from the dangers of the world. It may have taken some fighting but for what it was worth, Russet was proud.

"Take me there," Blizzard said without hesitation. He slowed himself and fell in behind Moonlight, ready for her to take the lead.

Fish Sticks practically tumbled over himself as he landed on the forest forest. He got up shakily, pieces of pine needles and forest litter stuck in his head feathers. He wasn't sure if he was trembling from fear or exhaustion; probably both.

(Hey, @Rooster_Tyranny, is it okay if Riski and Fish Sticks find Bagel Bite?)

"Well, I thought you were gonna talk to him first, cat-snack." She snapped impatiently, "I'm waiting here for you; not for him." Claw narrowed her eyes. "Say.. is your buddy a pigeon? He seems awful sophisticated to be one of you trash-eaters."

(Ah, sorry :p)

Splash nodded sagely. "Your sons again?" He questioned, knowing that Ronald had complained about them in the past.

He turned the idea around in his head. "Fair enough. But how am I supposed to say anything to him if I know who I'm dealing with? I may sound like I'm trying to pry, but it really is just a matter of business." He snorted at her question, and smiled wryly. "He's not like anything you know." At the mention of his boss he regained his confidence.

Claw jumped down from the branch, stalking up to Barky and giving him a hard stare. "Very well," she cawed, "the one I work for is Shadow. You might know her as Ruler of the Pines or the Resistance Leader. She's fond of her titles." Claw said this with a hint of irritation in her voice. At Barky's words about his leader, she cocked her head. "Try me,"

His hackles unconsciously rose, just slightly. But he stared strait back at her and his voice was smooth, firm and collected. "I'm not saying anything else until there's a disclosed deal. The resistance, eh? I've heard bits and pieces about that. You got beef with just the pigeons or are other territories not your friends either?"
