"Yeah, what she said!" Trout said helpfully, spreading his wings in a bad imitation of Orbit.
The pigeon glared at them, obviously wondering whether she could take them both. At last, she growled, "You weaklings will be crushed by the wrath of the all-glorious pigeon military!" Before flapping away erratically into the chill morning air.
Nanako: ok, lelet's go then. *she said with a shrug before taking to the air. She found this whole territory thing to be strange because she wasnt originally wild, but was a domesticate pigeon.* it might be fun to be the one harrassing for once.
As they got closer they realized it was actually two gulls, one had been hidden atop a trashcan. This only made Rocket falter for a second before hastening into a dive.

Trout looked up, having heard wingbeats, and muttered to Orbit. "Watch out, there's more."

"I don't really think that matters. So what if they had another motive? They still kept me safe and warm and alive. I'm alive because of them. They might have disappeared because I didn't need them anymore. They had done their job, so they could leave."
Aspen spun around, startled. She fluffed her feathers defensively. "Why do you want to know?"
“Why are you discussing a little crow? Why don’t I know about this?” Earl was much larger than the other raven and had expected fear to be her first reaction, rather than defensiveness.
Her feathers still fluffed, she didn't answer him. Instead, she looked at Thattle. Who is this guy? She wondered. Thattle knew more than her about what a raven should do in this scenario. All her life she had lived apart from other birds until now, so she was going to let him handle this.
Thattel opened his beak, then snapped it close, while at the same time hopping three feet into the air. "Oh, it's you, Earl," he said with relief. "Uh, the Ruler may not have announced it yet. It only happened yesterday at the last of light." He said apologetically.

Moonlight stretched her black-and-white wings and flew towards the rising sun, becoming a dark spot in the bright sky. “Which way are we supposed to go to find these criminals?” she asked, looking back at the pigeon who was lit brightly by the breaking dawn. He seemed distracted by the saturated forests.

“It must’ve,” Russet preened the cold out of his rust-colored plumage. One of his greatest vices was being able to sleep through about anything. He was going to be swept up by a hurricane one of these days. He admired the lazy progress of a brown leaf floating in the water.
It had rained enough to bring all the silt from the riverbed, and the river was a color that was comparable to that in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Not that he knew any of that.
“Any news?” he asked. It was a bit early for news. But it was all part of his daily ritual. So he had to ask Cement for news. He’d lead a dull existence without her news.
The leaf was now caught on the edge of the river now. He switched his focus to a barn swallow, swooping for bugs and watching the pigeons warily.

Earl decided to barge in.
“What’s this about a little crow?” he demanded fiercely, landing in front of both of the ravens.
"We'll skirt raven territory. The friend I was talking about lives at the unofficial border between the ravens and the crows." He gave her a funny look. How does this lieutenant stay so serious and business-mannered all the time? He wondered, Then again, pigeons do take their jobs seriously.. for the most part.

Cement didn't reply for a moment. She then cooed, "It just got to me last night that a group of assorted birds were chased into raven territory. Also, Blizzard has gone on some mission for a lieutenant." She sighed. "I hope Blizzard doesn't get himself into trouble."

Earl turned a sharp black eye towards the smaller raven. “What happened last night?” he snapped. He hated not knowing these things. Shadow always left him out of the loop. She doesn’t trust me. He didn’t accept the fact that he might be too old. That shouldn’t be a problem.

“Got it,” Moonlight said, flapping her large, mottled wings. She scanned the ground below her, letting the air currents take her away.

“Oh?” Cement looked up from the river. It was much more interesting news than the usual ‘General One-Toe is gaining more support’ kind of thing, or even news of violence in the streets. He glanced at the pigeon’s face. Expressionless as usual. But he knew her concern for Blizzard. While he didn’t know Blizzard very well personally, he knew that Cement saw Blizzard, her band of loyal followers, and himself as a last hope for the pigeons, even if she never physically said so.
Another part of ritual, something he said every day. “I think we’re edging on the brink of war.” This time he really meant it. All sides were getting heated up (even the laid-back gulls were showing animosity) and a tiny little issue like a couple of criminals was a big enough spark to set off the giant powder horn that The Four Territories were becoming.

Thattel blinked. "Well, uh," he cleared his throat a bit nervously. "Shadow went on a recruiting mission, you know, to get more ravens to join the cause. Then we saw this crow carrying a youngling, and Shadow ordered us to surround them, then she dived. We captured them, and, um, I think we're using 'em as leverage." He finished.

Blizzard dropped below her, spanning the ground for the familiar tree. He spotted a couple of crows, who gave them suspicious looks as they passed, but stayed away.

Cement sighed again. "War really is the closest it's been in a while, isn't it?" Her eyes were on the rushing water below, but they were distant. Suddenly, she turned to her mate. "What do you think of One-Toe?" She knew what he did, but she wanted to ask again.

“Ah. Serve’s the crow right then, if he’s going to be flying through Raven Territory like it’s something for the amusement of his chick.” The female raven seemed to disagree with him. Her eyes were definitely a shade of defiant only found in hopeful youths. “What about it then?” he asked, glaring at her.

Moonlight dropped in flight as well.

“Stupid, that’s what she is... stupid stupid,” Russet spat. Some of his hate for the pigeon with few digits he had gotten from her, some he cultivated on his own. Those were dangerous words that he offered so lackadaisically, enough to seed a rebellion. Enough to get them all killed. “Sorry.” He lowered his voice. “What I’m trying to say is war can be profitable, but it’s never worth it. You always lose something. Karma’s gonna always take whatever you got back. History’s not worth repeating. We lost the territories for a reason.”

She got the feeling that it wouldn't be wise to start telling this raven about her beliefs and how she got involved with everything. She glared back. "I was around the crows when Shadow found them. Shadow asked me to join and I said yes." She stated simply

Thattel looked at Aspen with a worried expression. He silently willed her to not start talking on the crows' defense.

*nanako cooed before swooping down and pecking at the head of one of the gulls. She was a racing pigeon, and was trained for speed and agility, of wich shed do her best to use against them.*
