~>Fury of the Wind<~ (A Bird RP)

*timeskip to morning*

Cement was already preening when the other birds woke up. She was getting ready to talk to Suliver. But, first, she really needed to to explain her entire plan to Russet. Since their first flight out to the gang-leader-that-was-also-her-brother, she had barely told him a thing. And yet, there he was, supporting her all the way. In the hours that she had spent just thinking of all the ways everything could go wrong and what she could do about it, she had eventually realized something- her own mate didn’t know what she suspected! In all her considering and internal arguments, she had forgotten to tell him. She sighed, once again annoyed with herself. What kind of a mate am I? She wondered, preening her feathers with a bit more of an agitated air.

Rocket stretched one wing over her leg, then both wings over her head. Afterwards, she taped Nanako repeatedly. “Wake up!” She cooed insistently.

(Russet is Mr. Supportive. XD I love Cement. She's so realistically anxious. I'm wondering if she didn't tell him because you're making this up on the spot though. XD)
Russet opened an eye. Cement was feverishly preening, something she did when she was anxious, which was often.
She was so wrapped up in her worrying that she hadn't noticed him wake up. Russet was too much of a man (the pigeon alternative sounds worse
and then I looked it up to make sure there wasn't a better one, then saw The Pigeon Kiss, then saw Do Pigeons Love? Do Pigeons Have Feelings? What Does it Mean When a Pigeon Comes to You
?) to ever show his anxiety. But when Cement was worried, he did too. About her general state of worriedness. He'd forgotten to ask her about it the night before. He didn't even bother to tell her 'Good Morning' first.
Russet reached up and preened around Cement's face. When the absorbed bird jumped, he calmed her by rubbing his beak against hers.

(Nah, I’m had a (sorta) plan for a while. Well, kinda. I just didn’t have her tell him because it would’ve ruined the surprise.
Oh, and Neet Neet definitely feels love... towards shoes.)

Cement closed her eyes and willed herself to relax a little as Russet tried to calm her. She let out a pigeon sigh. “Russet,” she started, “there’s some things I need to tell you.”

(Then you’re more organized than me. As evidenced by my rps.
Shoes... oh, I can only imagine. I can only imagine...)
“I know,” Russet said. “I was going to ask you want was worrying you. You know you don’t have to keep these things to yourself, I’m your mate. I won’t tell anyone.” He mimed putting duct-tape around his beak. “It’s not good to worry alone when you can have everyone around you worried too.” He tilted his head to the side and his beak twisted into a smile.

(Here it comes. The pun I’ve been waiting to bestow upon this thread since the beginning-)

Cement tilted her head to the side and let a small smile slip onto her beak. Okay, just start simple. She counseled herself. “I’ve been hearing rumors,” she started, “of things some of the lieutenants and gang leaders are planning. I’ve gathered information, but it hasn’t been enough. However, it has been enough for me to suspect that something terrible is being planned by a portion of the high-ranking members of the pigeon military.” She looked her mate in the eyes, and the smile that had been on her face had disappeared completely, like a French fry down a drainage cover.
“I believe that they’re planning a coup.”

(I sat there for a second, confused at what the pun was. Then it dawned on me and I started laughing dramatically. XD)
“A coup? So they mean to overthrow the General?” Russet asked. Who else, featherhead? Well, I suppose there are some other leaders of the other species, but would it be considered a coup then?
How come I’ve never noticed before? Clearly, Cement has been paying better attention than me.

“What would a coup mean for us?” he asked, then answered for himself. “Depends upon who they put in charge, I suppose...”

“Yes. That’s what I believe. I could be wrong, but it makes sense..” Cement explained, “I’ve heard about large groups of lieutenants and gang leaders meeting without One-Toe. They’ve been getting more and more harsh about non-members and deserters, even though the General never ordered anything of that sort. They’ve been executing birds, leading small raiding parties on various groups of non-pigeons within the city, and talking of expanding borders. All of this without the General’s approval. I don’t think she is even aware of what’s going on in her own city.” She said, rather glumly. “At first, it might seem like it would be a lot better without One-Toe. But I’m afraid.. that the new leader will be even worse. It might be Suliver. Or someone even more cruel and ambitious.”

“Yeah, I hate to say it, but that lack-toes might be better than what they’re offering. A twist-wings like Sullivan would only make it worse for the nesting birds. Already, it’s dangerous to live in the city without affiliation with some gang or another, but with the bullies in charge, it’s gonna be a constant cage for everyone. But there’s nothing we can do to prevent it, I ‘spose. You made a wise decision siding with Sulliver. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” Russet paused. “But what’s an insane gull have to do with it? Are they preparing an ‘accident?’”

“Oh, I’m only siding with Suliver to figure out exactly when they’re planning the coup.” Cement smiled apologetically at him. “I’m sorry, I should’ve told you sooner.. I’m not sure what I’ll do when I find out, if I find out.. and I think you may be right about the gull. It’s a horrible price to pay for information..” She trailed off, again thinking about what horrors Suliver had planned with that gull.

(Russ said Sullivan. Oops. I’m gonna pretend that was totally on purpose.)
“Rodger that,” Russ said with a grin-in reply to the Sulliver comment. As he had said before, he really hated Sulliver, and he was somewhat grateful that they weren’t going to have to cooperate with him. Still, the opportunity that Cement had was intriguing. She could probably manage to work with him if she wanted, being somewhat of a relation.
“I’m sure it won’t be that bad. It’s not like Sulliver can bend that thing to his will or anything. It might turn on him and take out a few of his own, though...”
