~>Fury of the Wind<~ (A Bird RP)

Vaatras landed heavily in front of Fish Sticks, eyeing him in a more annoyed fashion than he had been before. “Stop runnin’, coward!” He said, his taunt doing nothing but made Fish Sticks back up farther. Soon, the two pigeons and the rest of the gulls (plus Riski) had flew over, giving them suitable room, but not going far enough that they couldn’t view the battle. There was much squawking and even a few bets. The closest thing to currency for seagull consists of pieces of dried seaweed, fish scraps, or even a particularly interesting French fry (uninteresting fries are instantly eaten, though the occasional ones with odd shapes are sometimes kept until they grow as stale and hard as rock).

Vaatras inched sideways towards Fish Sticks. Fish Sticks scuttled sideways in the opposite direction.
Vaatras tried the other way. That didn’t work either.
With a squawk of frustration, Vaatras came to the realization that he would have to attack first. Well, good thing he excelled at that.
Vaatras stretched his neck up, holding his wings slightly to the side as he approached, first slowly, then with a run, giving his wings a flap for momentum.
Fish Sticks shot into the air in perhaps the quickest takeoff he had made in his life.
Despite his little common sense screeching at him to flee, he forced his wings to take him back to the ground right behind Vaatras.
Fish Stick’s ringed bill shot forward to firmly grab Vaatras’ tail.
Vaatras squawked and whipped his huge bill around. He jabbed at Fish Sticks’ eyes, which were widened in fright.
Fish Sticks crouched, backing away slowly, his beak still clamped on Vaatras’ tail.
Vaatras raised his wings and flapped them in intimidation. Fish Sticks’ beak opened seemingly of its own accord, and he hopped backwards.
Vaatras approached, his posture once again rigidly forward and aggressive. Fish Sticks, still trying to make himself as small and unpeckable as possible, stepped away hastily. But he didn’t flee, much to Vaatras’ displeasure.
Vaatras flapped into the air and bowled heavily into Fish Sticks.

Gulls fight very strangely, thought Russet.

Fish Sticks’ opened his beak, and he would’ve squawked in a very undignified squeaky way, but Vaatras saved him the trouble by landing on him and effectively pushing the air out of his lungs.
Fish Sticks, gasping, struggled under the bulk of the larger herring gull, flailing his one wing and foot that weren’t being actively squished.
Vaatras towered above him, bill gaping like a shark’s jaws. He swiftly reached down and latched onto Fish Sticks’ swinging wing.
Fish Sticks swung his head around and bit at the closest part of Vaatras that he could, which happened to be one of his wings, spread so he could keep his balance. He yanked his head back.
Vaatras, unbalanced, lurched off of Fish Sticks, half on him and half off.
It was a stalemate. Both had the other’s wing, and both were as far away as they could be without hurting themselves.

Vaatras stood there, silently —a first for him— glaring at Fish Sticks. For a few moments, that was it.
Vaatras abruptly jerked his beak back, causing a squawk out of Fish Sticks, and causing the larger gull to wince as his wing was yanked along with Fish Sticks’. But now he was released.
Fish Sticks watched Vaatras warily, edging around him. His beak shot forward, and Vaatras’ did too, not expecting the same out of Fish Sticks. Vaatras’ eyes widened with surprise. They grabbed each other’s beaks.
Fish Sticks pulled valiantly at Vaatras. But Vaatras was bigger and stronger, and he tugged back with a ferocity that caused Fish Sticks to stumble.
Vaatras let go, pecking at Fish Sticks’ face. Fish Sticks raised his wings to defend himself, slapping at Vaatras like a pigeon as he backed up.

The back of one of Fish Sticks’ webbed feet edged into nothingness. A shiver went through him as he realized he had almost tumbled off the side of the cliff. He had wings, obviously, but an unexpected fall like that could still be fatal- the rock face was anything but smooth, and one of the jutting shards of stone could easily kill or injure an unprepared gull. Fish Sticks’ swallowed uneasily. He tried to creep along so his back wasn’t to the drop, but Vaatras’ bulk blocked his way.
Vaatras took a step forward, then another. A smug look was upon his face- he recognized Fish Sticks’ fear. And he was cherishing it.
Vaatras snapped at Fish Sticks, his movement tauntingly slow. The smaller gull yelped and raised his wings just as a strong gust of wind blew into him.
Fish Sticks’ eyes widened. He had one second of regret before he lost his balance and dropped towards the sea.

Fish Sticks’ wings flailed against gravity and the lashing winds of the sea. His heart seemed to skip a beat for every jagged stone that he miraculously dodged. Fear paralyzed him. His wings seemed to move in slow motion as he tried to right himself and get into flight.

Fish Sticks’ managed to turn himself around, pushing his wings out against the wind. He looked down and his eyes widened. An outcropping of rock was rapidly rushing towards him.

Fish Sticks strained wildly against the force of the wind, pumping his wings to dodge the stone, or even slow his descent.

It’s- Fish Sticks’ beak gaped open, too- late! He shut his eyes, giving one more flap. No-

Thump.

The air rushed out of his lungs as a fuzzy gray darkness overtook him.

The gulls crowded the edge of the cliff, wings flapping as they shoved and pushed each other to get a look.

Their leader was gone.

Vaatras looked at the churning water with a somewhat disappointed expression. He had wanted to be the one to end the life of that foolish gull.

Oyster, circling above the other gulls, thought over Fish Sticks’ end. Too bad he had to go and trip off the edge of a cliff. Suits him, somehow, ending in a way as shameful as his life. She thought in contempt.

Cement, also hovering over the other birds, felt a pang of pity for the poor gull. He didn’t deserve that. She sighed. Even a fool could tell he had never stood a chance. She wondered briefly, then, why the gull had decided to sacrifice himself in such a pointless battle. I’ll never understand those birds. She pondered. He was a brave one, though.

Unknownst to the birds gathered above, Fish Sticks was still breathing. He lay in a groove in the cliffs, which he had rolled into after impact, the highest sea spray barely reaching the hidden crag.

“Oh, no thanks. I wouldn’t want to take up too much of your time, sir.” He stops hopping around for a minute. “Also, why are the ravens disrespecting the treaty anyways..?” Yuno asked, trying to be as polite as possible and the least nosy he could be. He hopped from foot to foot, trying to stop being so fidgety. “Sorry if I’m distracting you, sir. I know you might have better things to do at the moment instead of chatting with me-“ He crows softly, still hopping from foot to foot.
Barnacles blinked his one eye and held himself a bit higher. Like many elder ravens, and birds in general, he was suspect to mild flattery. “Aye, even I’m not completely sure of all the why’s.” He cawed. “Though a lotta the reason is those bloody ravens callin’ themselves ‘the Resistance’.” He guffawed harshly. “Ha! ‘Resistance’ my tail, they’re just a buncha brutes, they are. Wanna go back to the old ways, far as I can tell.” Barnacles had to admit to himself that he didn’t know much of the Resistance. What he did know was enough to make him despise them, though.

Nanako: while racing I needed to forage for food. But that's it.
Rocket grinned. “I’ll teach you how to forage!” She exclaimed, then dipped down to the field. With her feet firmly planted in the grass, she stilled, remembering that she hadn’t foraged since she was two months old. Which was, well, two months ago, but it seemed longer than that. And that had been the first and last time she’d foraged in a field.

In using flip phone now so I can't use quotation marks easily.

Skipper laughed lightly. ''Pigeons. All bark no bite.''

I can do it and I will do it that way if it's easier to understand.
''Pigeons... What a bunch of losers. All trying to get from something stupid to nothing at all.'' He continued.
(No, it’s fine. Just curious. I had no idea you could even use byc on a flip phone)
“Oh I don’t know about that,” Ritz said. “Now that I have my job as a gull scout...” Ritz. “Well, they have those gang raids on the gulls sometimes, and now some of the gangs are planning a coup on One Toe. But Cement doesn’t want that to happen, since the pigeon they’ll put in charge will be worse than One Toe! So the gulls are going to ally with Cement’s gang. I found this all out because I was the one who flew to scout out Cement’s territory. I had to fly back and forth between the territories and send messages.”

(Gosh XD )
Russet drew closer to Cement. He had seen death before, but it was hard to watch a silly, stupid gull end in such a way. “He’s dead?” he asked. He honestly didn’t know whether the fight was supposed to be a fight to the death.
Riski turned away sadly, very sad about the death of his friend and also plotting his escape if things went wrong.
