Thanks to all for the well-wishes!

I tried to only hatch eggs from the Sussex, and obviously the black chick is not purebred. But the chipmunk chick has yellow legs...which is a Dominique trait.


I love them anyway.

I do hope they're girls so I can keep them.

Three!

Martha was in the nest box but hopped out when I entered the run with vegetables.

The chicks exited before I could get a good picture.

They hopped down the steps and followed her.

I threw some crumbles around and Martha started scratching and showing her chicks where good food was.

Entire flock:

I picked up each chick and dipped their beaks in the waterer. Then Martha went back into the nest box, and the chicks followed her up the steps.

I hope Martha stays on the nest another day or two to give the other eggs the opportunity to hatch.
