She's sweet!
She's actually my favorite pullet at this time, always gentle and sweet. Martha is the top girl, a bit pushy, likes to peck my skirt and shoes after I run out of treats. Rahab occasionally likes to get on my lap and make squeaky noises. But Hannah is the quiet one.

Last night Samuel (aka "Red") was perched on the short branch by the door, and I slowwwwwwwwly extended my fist to his head. He was a little apprehensive, moved slightly away but I reached the hackles and started grooming him, pulling the feathers on the back of his neck between my fingers. He settled down immediately and allowed me to continue.

Not yet.

I check the nest boxes every day, and it's the same straw and fake egg in each.

:D She'll get there.

This is not necessarily a good idea.

Hens groom their roosters this way as an act of submission to his leadership.

I was going over my phone pictures of the coop when I noticed something.

Do you see it?

It's a GAP in the hardware cloth.

It's not huge, but I could slide my fingers into it.

I went out to the coop with a couple zip-ties but only did a temporary fix, will do it properly tomorrow when it's light.

It might be worthwhile taking flash pictures of the coop after sunset. This particular gap I'd missed in the daylight, totally.

How did I overlook this?
