That's got to be good for him

This week has been a blur. I was so encouraged by Ron getting up and walking, but he was back in restraints the next day. It's been a struggle keeping him in the bed, they've been trying different med combinations to get a balance that doesn't zombie him but keeps him safe.
Wednesday the hospital staff were pushing hard for Ron to be discharged. But it was a holiday, we couldn't get case management to order a bed, walker, commode that we felt he needed ready for him when he arrived home.
I went in early on Thursday to meet with the hospitalist and case manager about getting things done to facilitate Ron's discharge. I sat for a couple hours waiting for their arrival. The hospitalist finally showed up, said that there would probably be a bed delivered that day, but I refused to be pushed. I said "He needs a bed. He's not a puppy I can bring home and put in a cardboard box".
I don't think he liked me. Tough.
Skipping a lot of the BS...they finally got the bed and items scheduled to be delivered. When I got the confirmation that the bed was set up at home I told the nurse to proceed with the discharge. Thirty minutes later she had everything done, said the pharmacy would deliver the new medications to Ron's room shortly. Ron was given his anti-anxiety meds early to make the trip home easier.
And then we sat for two more hours waiting for his prescriptions while Ron's condition deteriorated. Thanks for nothing, nitwits.
I finally got him home, but it took two of us to get him up the steps and into his hospital bed, he was deadweight.
Home care nurse came by today to assess Ron's needs. They are putting him in home hospice care, where he will be kept as comfortable as possible.
What an experience.
Ron is resting comfortably, and will be receiving care at home 6 days a week.
Thank you for all the good wishes and prayers.
Glad he is cheerful. A shower always feels goodRon slept late, but woke up fairly cheerful and clear-headed. I took the opportunity to get him in the shower, shampooed too. He's not had a shower since before he went into the hospital.
I got wet, too.
A few minutes ago I went outside again, to thaw the waterers, give the flock some greens, and check for eggs.
The entire flock was on the west side of the hoop coop where they could take a sun bath, and where the wind is blocked by the A-frame roost. Smart chicks!
They got fresh water (there was an ice skim on all their waterers), a few cheese cracker crumbs, and more cudweed, yum!
No eggs yet today, but one of the pullets generally lays around 3pm.
Thermometer is reading about 40°F, but the wind is frigid, numbed my face. I will check for eggs later, though it might not be until after dark when I walk the dog.

We had a good experience with this home care & hospice organization before, with my dad.I'm sorry you had such a negative experience with the hospital. I went through hospice with both of my parents, and everything went so smoothly and they were all so helpful. Hopefully things will get better for you and Ron as well.
