fuzzi's Chicken Journal

Naomi is still on eggs.
:yesss:

I am planning on moving the dog crate brooder into the coop tomorrow or Friday. Hatch is probably Sunday or Monday, so I want to move her and her nest into it at night, possibly Saturday. Food and water will be provided, and any chicks that hatch will be safe from everything, but their broody mom.
:fl

On the return trip I stopped at a statuary place in Virginia, east of Marion. I bought this trio, am planning on painting them to match the Speckled Sussex.

Maybe one yellow and one chipmunk chick?

So...I left for Kentucky yesterday. We're having a nice visit. I texted a video to my chicken sitter.

He texted back "That hen that wouldn't move? She was sitting on 5 eggs!" He brought them in the house...
:he

I called him and told him to put back the eggs. She's supposed to be sitting on them, she's brooding!

He put them back. I hope she gets back on them.
:barnie

There's nothing I can do, I won't be home for 48 hours.
Did you explain to him before you left you had a hen sitting to hatch?

Now Naomi (Dominique) is sitting on a plastic egg

Something's wrong with Abigail's TAMAR'S right wing, she's letting it hang low, but not dragging. I picked her up, gently opened and closed the wing, no reaction, but when I touched her shoulder joint she squawked.

I assume there's not much that can be done, just watch her and let it heal on its own.
Tamar's wing is no better. It's been three weeks.

I couldn't find anything with a search in the injury forum. Should I bind the wing to her body? I have some athletic tape, like an Ace bandage.
