Collards squeak when I chew them.
🤣 What?! Oh my, that just tickled me something good🤣
Collards really should not squeak when you chew them.

"IF" you like seasoned greens (Collards, Kale, Turnip, etc.) choose a can of either Margaret Holmes or Glory canned greens at Ingles. (large variety to choose from) They taste pretty good, but they are seasoned and can be spicey. If heating in the microwave, then drain well so you just have greens not floating in liquid, add BUTTER😋 enjoy. If heating in a pot, then dip out with a slotted spoon, add BUTTER, enjoy. Save your Pot Likker and drink it like warm broth if so inclined.
Little bacon grease yum
I save my bacon grease...it goes well with just about everything😊

Okay, I'll confess. We have a container in the fridge with bacon grease in it. I thought I'd make hot bacon dressing. The spinach should be up in oh, about 6-7 months. It should still be good then, eh? :gig

It might be good until then. I usually put some in the freezer, it will last longer:)

One of the Sussex pullets laid an egg!!!!

It's the one at the bottom. That's an OEGB egg at the top.

As you can see the Sussex pullet egg is a little smaller than the OEGB eggs I've been getting.

Go, girls, GO!

I ground up bits of ham and gristle, then added crushed egg shells to feed to the flocks. It went over big!

I have been using lemonade bottles for storing water in the chicken runs, but they all have algae growth that has dried and pollutes the water.

So, I tried something new:

My son buys his drinking water in gallon jugs, and I have been storing the empties in the shed, for some future use.

Found it.

Forgot to mention, a three egg day on Christmas Eve!

The two on the left are from the Sussex girls. I'm not sure the hen sized egg source, but it appears Lois laid the pullet egg, she has her big girl comb.

The one on the right is from an OEGB pullet, probably Dinah.
