Esther in the middle.

It got up to 14° today so I opened the pop door and threw a flake of straw down with some scratch on top. Everybody was pretty happy to get outside for the first time in a week.

I was just looking around today in the trees at all the dead branches still caught up way above ground from our three sequential ice storms last spring. I'm staying out of the woods if the wind's blowing for the next few years.

Today the chickens got some collards, BOSS, and later in the afternoon some grape bits. The flocks have been eating a lot of feed, so the feed/supplement ratio is fine.

I put a flake of straw in each run, and the chickens obligingly spread it all over. The runs don't get muddy, mainly because I add litter such as leaves or straw.

I collected two Sussex pullet eggs, the OEGBs are slackers!
:gig

Checked the coops after dark, everyone is up on the roosts, yes!

Temp is 28°, wind blowing so feels like 19° at 10pm.

Low of 16° expected...wondering what the wind chill will be at that point!
 :th
