Fuzzy's Farm

Oh no nova, you got me thinkin again.......

There's this "place" I guess, by the railroad tracks, and they get shipments of broken or messed up pallets. Then they rebuild them and sell them to locals. Now I want to get some and build a coop. Dangnabit, I hate when my brain goes off gettin ideas, now I have to do it. muhahahahahhahahahahaha!

I do not know if I posted this one here, but! The black blob in the center is Payne the cat... The rest are the January chicks following him. It was pretty funny actually. Sorry the picture is crappy, They are quite a ways away from me, and the cameral I was using... SUCKED for zooming in...BIG TIME. None of OUR cats bother the chickens. Some of the more ferel cats will though.

The ply that is there was pretty bad. The rain had really soaked into it and weakened it. I mean, I could bend the stuff, thats how bad it was. I was thinking, some of those skids that are like typical skids I could probably tear apart and then use those peices to fill in the gaps on other skids to make walls. BUT THEN! They just have those solid platform skids, and that really lessens the work I'd need to do, and they are heavy bits too. Nice and thick the walls would be. I think with some silicone in the cracks, then a nice coat of barn paint inside and out, would make it nice and weather proof. I figure too, that I could use the peices I got today and build a coop in the run, take the broody coop out and put it in the garage again like it was for when I have another hen go broody. Put Criptoe and her chicks into the new coop along with Skeeter and the silkies. The silkies have from Coco follow her around a lot more now. She doesn't protect them, but they are a unit now, ya know what I mean? They all live in the garage together... AND since it will be elevated, it will not detract from the ground space.

WOW - We have tornado sirens going off in Kalamazoo. Too close to me for comfort. Got to go take care of my birds.
I didn't know about that, and usually what K-zoo has heads my way. But what we did have over our woods was a double
rainbow that lasted almost an hour.

I bought a gallon of apple cider Friday with grandkids coming and they only drank about a third of it, does anybody know if you can freeze cider?

Yes, you can freeze apple cider, it freezes fine. :) You can also make little popsicles out of it. If it were me though, I'd make pork chops and use the cider as the marinade and cooking juice. Or...I'd use it in place of water for recipes. I'd also microwave it until almost boiling, and then throw a tea bag in it (YUM!)

I also like it hot with Cinnamon stick thrown in. But with my DD's new schedule it it just me that I am cooking for
and don't know when grand kids will be back.

I imagined your pic saying this...

I made my first ever chicken diaper... for silver, but it will be too big for The Tiny Terror... So tomorrow (If I get up the oomph) I will make the pattern smaller and try again.
I figure TTT is about the size of a pigeon... so I must redo (It turned out to be big enough for a silkie... I have yet to try it out though... We will see.

I now feel like a true crazy chicken lady...Chicken diapers...

We didn't have any, but i wasn't paying attention and all of a sudden the sky turned black! yikes. So i ran to the birds, the big coop had put theirselves all away, the poor millie roos were stuck outside their coop with the door blown shut. First time they actually wanted in! Bout the time i got everything straight the monsoon hit.

We use it here to simmer a nice picnic ham in. Throw in some sliced onions, don't sound great but they simmer in and turn sweet. Do it right in the stockpot or the crockpot. If it don't cover the ham, you can flip it after a few hours. When it falls apart, it's ready!

I wanna see pics of the chicken diaper in progress! :) I looked online today at diapers, and they were mostly bright prints. If i was to do a diaper, i want just plain soft grey or rusty brown.
