Fuzzy's Farm

I'm not familiar with the difference. Do you comb them out and use the shedded hair? Or are they like my goats and just hang out? Wish we were closer and I'd be bugging you for leftover wool/hair - ha.
Nope. Don't do anything with them. In the winter they get a real thick coat and then come spring and summer they just shed it off. Can't use it to spin or anything. It is actually just like straight hair. If you go to my profile and look at my pics I have some of this years lambs.

I don't know. Had a real difficult time sleeping.
I hate it when that happens. But I usually get up this early anyway, have a cup of coffee which ironically puts me back to sleep until about 6. Now with the time change that's all messed up. In many ways this is my favorite part of the day - I can sit here, drink coffee, catch up on the computer while listening to bad political pundits on tv. Nothing has started up for the day and the house is quiet. The dogs are hanging out with me and it's just nice. Small pleasures.

That's interesting. I didn't know there were different types of wool/hair structure. I know about breeds like Merino. Did you know that at one point in the 1800's a Merino sheep could sell for $1000 because the wool was so prized? Which was a tremendous amount of money at that time. I'd have merino sheep if I could sell the wool for such huge amounts. Unfortunately now wool isn't in fashion much. It might actually pay for itself - ha.

Ha, ha, neither is my DH. I, on the other hand, can't sleep late at all. That's nice having breakfast with your daughter. I have three sons so that wouldn't happen - ha. My daughters-in-law would love it but they all have tiny babies so not much getting out yet.

Yup, wool isn't worth crap anymore. My sheep are Dorpers/ Katahdin/ Painted Desert. I have a few that have Mouflon in them also.

Well, my daughter did something that I highly resent and now is trying to suck up. Hate to tell her it won't work.

The army is now experimenting with a mixture of wool and synthetic for uniforms. Seems like the water wicking sythetics they were using were made entirely of petroleum based products which would melt if contacting fire. Caused horrible burns so now a shift back to something more natural. Who knows, maybe wool will resurge but probably not as long as we are tied to oil so completely.
