Fuzzy's Farm

what the heck, this almost sounds like my cocoa's eggs were, but she was the only one and i've never had ducks!
Hers were thin on one end, and sandpapery. But last summer hers were so hard and smooth you could throw them 2 stories up and they would just drop and roll away! I had to throw them onto a tree to break when i had medicated the birds. Same diet, same calcium!

Was very disappointing at the end when i tried to save for hatching, if i picked them up wrong i often put my finger right through the end. :( I blamed that on the antibiotics, she was getting penicillin injections.

browsing through the rest of the site, working on their birds now. Shagbark also sells d'uccles, the show kind!

Probably much to far away to be of any use to us, but i am looking over the pics to see what to look for in a quality bird-. I don't see any difference between their featured porcelain roo and mine except for the tail spots! Woot! Also they noted that female's foot feathers are typically shorter than a male's, i had thought sissy's were just not as good but not the deal! Good.

http://www.shagbarkbantams.com/porc.htm I can't copy their pics but see them "side by side"

Only thing i note is he's not sticking his neck up /chest out here, but he usually does. The camera was making him nervous though.

On a side note, can you not see why i want to do a coop update? lol. ugly curtains and walls bad. Don't make for good pics, that's for sure!

His "top V" posture between his neck and tail aren't as tight a v though, even when he's upright; maybe as he continues to fill out his hackle and saddle? Every time i think he's done i keep seeing new ones popping in. He has as full a tail as my biggest millie roo had, the others barely ever got one. All good signs all in all.
The wattles were the huge tip-off that he may not be hatchery, since they usually have big ones. Pea size is rated as too big/ pushing it! I am regretting trimming their feet feathers though. :( Now i have to wait for them to grow back! I really gotta work on getting that bedding in there and getting it deep, to get those feet in shape!

Nope, they don't breed anymore per say, they do adopt out friendly birds on occasion though. :/ But another detail i noticed was they mentioned over and over the hen's typically have shorter feet feathers, and sissy's are decent, and sharma the booted bantam girl who would be the only available female for breeding seems solid, hers get really long! (sissy is his sister) Only thing is that it would also potentially introduce longer wattles...........

Hi everyone.
Been doing a New Year's Eve Eve day here since DH has to work tomorrow night and I won't have time to make treats tomorrow because I'll be working, too. I think we'll have enough left-overs for me and the kids to have tomorrow night.
So DH wanted homemade swedish meatballs for dinner. What a pain in the bahookie! I've never made them before and the recipe I used was so time consuming. Gotta say they tasted awesome, but for the hassle I'll just drive his butt to IKEA next time he wants them. Seriously, a 3hr drive is far more appealing than doing that again. Of course, that means I'll probably have to plan a side trip to the northern climes for pasties and perogies since he's now babbling on about them, too. Ok, I don't mind making the pasties, but the perogies are no fun.

Beyond, that quiet day. Chickens got treated to a mix of goodies for their own personal New Year's feast. Oh! I saw a hawk on the edge of our property today. He was picking at a dead possum as I drove up and flew up into a tree. Tried to get a photo, but my phone's camera is a total joke.

Have a nice night all.
