Fuzzy's Farm

Gonna get some pics of the chicks that have hatched today; I think the other eggs are gonna hatch here in a few hours.

Is it not particularly wise to handle the eggs before they hatch? I hope not. Also, I hear peeping coming from the eggs, so I know there are babies in there.

Also, one more chick hatched yesterday but it died... now, it was bleeding from where it's umbilical cord was and it had some fluid from its beak, but was that enough to kill it?

Fiasco Farms is an excellent site for goat information also.
They are good. They are one of my facebook 'likes'.

Boy, what a day! P.O. called me this morning because the regular carrier for my normal route called in for the day because her daughter's home is flooding and they needed to get everything out pronto. So I did the normal route, but minus about 115 homes that are now unreachable. Remember me talking about the causeway on my route? Well, those 3 flooded spots over the road are now a gigantic big one. No going through it. We're holding the mail at the P.O. A few of the residents came to pick up their mail and said unless you have a 4x4 that sits up high, you not making it through. We called a retired carrier who lives on the causeway and he said it's going to be some time before we'll be getting through again. So between that and a lot of wash-outs on the dirt roads, there are plenty of people who won't be seeing mail for a bit.

Oh, forgot to say, too, the basement of the P.O. is flooded. They've had maintenance guys down there all day trying to get the water out and they figure tomorrow will be worse so they'll be there tomorrow, too. Basically everything that wasn't at least a foot off the ground was ruined.

And, just before I got home, my DD texted me to tell me that a tree fell down in our yard and took out a power line. One of our oaks in front of the house split in half and crashed down into the lavender bush which is 5ft from the front corner of our house. I got pics, but the uploader thing is in the bedroom so I have to wait until DH gets up to post them. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Called the power company and they just left, but they only cut out the part that was going through the yard. You can still see it dangling from our post and from the post on the other side of the property. I'm wondering if it was a dead line since the posts are old, but it just seems weird they left it like that. Oh, it wasn't the line going to the house and we still have power so that's good, but now we have a huge tree to take care of.

And finally, what the hey? Rains for days and days and then I'm driving home through a snowstorm!?! Yep, it was actually accumulating and I have a pic on my phone of it from my wipers. And then I get near home and it's all sunshine. What???? It's snowing now, though.

Ok, got some pics for you all. First one is the tree down, second one is from a different angle and you can see the power line going across the pic just under the tree, and the third one is mother nature giving us the bird.

I took the last photo just a few minutes ago...

Turned out the line was active. They came back out and fixed it proper so no more dangling lines from where they first cut it. I went out there afterwards to look around the tree to make sure none of the barn cats or chickens got caught underneath when it fell. Thankfully, I didn't find any of them just tons of branches all over. Some of the really big, thick branches hit the ground so hard they drove themselves in. There are tons of big massive holes that look pretty deep with branches sticking out. It's going to be a mess to clean up. Gotta say, kind of makes me a bit leery walking under those trees now.

How scary, Tee. I'm glad everyone/thing is safe. Do you have a fireplace? Lots of firewood - lol!

Trees, rain, wind, personal lakes, snow...

I had my banana tree out yesterday... the wind swooped up and bent it right in half

It is ruined.
Had to bring all the orchids in too... It was 70* on Wed!!!!!

I think I may have an issue... I would love some spit balling....

Shawarma and Pattie are both broody
and they insist on swapping nests and sharing eggs

I had them in 2 different nest boxes and they SWITCHED

Shawarmas eggs are a whole week ahead of Patties

I put them back together in the large nesting box and marked S's eggs with huge Xs and P's with huge O's so as to not mix them up.

What do I do next?
Do I wait until S's eggs start hatching... and hope P stays on her eggs?
Do I seperate them? Now?

WHAT DO I DO?
