gagging??

This morning my sweet hen is acting like she's gagging. She just opens her mouth really wide every few minutes. Do I need to be concerned? ?

Ive seen mine do that too, but I don't know why either.

She may have a bit of grass or something else stuck half way down. If it continues for more than a day, then you might be concerned.

Let me jump in here. What you describe can be caused by a number of things. The last comment made should be taken to heart. KEEP AN EYE ON HER.

It could be something that is having a hard time being processed in the crop. This isn't so concerning and can be remedied by squirting some oilve oil into her mouth, careful not to get it down her wind pipe. Then massage the crop in a downward motion. This should give her relief.

But it could be a signal that sour crop is rearing its ugly head. If that's what's happening, her poop will be changing to watery and greenish. So watch her as well as her poop.
