Gaggle of Chinese Ostracizing a Roman Tufted - Help!

They probably won't like ducks. mine tolerate them from a distance and never want them close. At one time my gander when he thought he was a giant Muscovy[before I had the other geese] loved ducklings and actually took better care of them than their mothers. But now the ducks have to keep their distance from the thugs. Bullies[geese]lol so keeping Tula or getting another gander would be best. What is it about Tula your mom isn't sure of? I sent Iain Utah a PM so hopefully she'll check in tonight or tomorrow. fingers crossed. I'd say he will need more than a few days to feel completely at home.

I had no knowledge of geese and ducks not getting along - so that's good information to know. Thank you for letting me know; I'll definitely share that info with mom. There is so much to learn about the animal kingdom! Tula is fine by my mom as far as how he looks and such. She appreciates his wonderful calm demeanor and beautiful, erm, handsome looks. She's worried about adding another goose to the family if it's not a gander and especially if it doesn't get along with Juhy. The plus point is that he is eating normally, swimming, and doesn't seem overly stressed. Still, if it will take time for him to feel at home, we'll ask to keep him a few weeks to give him time to adjust. Really hoping he's a gander.

Do geese normally open their mouths in a way that looks like a hiccup? Juhy opens her bill and pulls up from her throat like she hiccuped. Tula is doing the same thing, too. They have water in front of them, but aren't dunking or drinking. So, it's probably not a dry throat or something stuck. I haven't spent enough time with the rest of them to notice if all are doing this. Wondering if this is part of normal behavior.

Yep, suspense! I've brought them both indoors with access to water. I don't think they're super happy about the situation. This is till I can arrange a separate outdoor area away from the rest. They're eating well and adjusted. But not much communication between the two.

How often do they do it? and do they even acknowledge each other at all? When Sam and Missy first met he didn't want to have anything to do with her but he was in love with a duck too.

I've noticed it a few times every now and then these past couple of days.

Were Sam and Missy the only geese at the time? Did it take over a month? Wondering if alone time will make it easier or am I trying too hard to make them get along? They're not too attentive toward each other, but don't mind sharing the food bowl and the coop. They do have distinct personalities. Juhy is more aloof; she spends most of her time preening herself. Tula (not too creative of a name) is more vocal and alert to his environment. He also has better appetite than Juhy. Tula is easier to handle - he let's you pick him up much more easily and panics less than Juhy. We love Tula's calm, intelligent eyes and really hope he doesn't have to go back. Waiting for expert verdict to decide his fate.

It's 4 am now and Tula just let out a shriek - same like yesterday. He's hungry and Juhy was blocking his way out of the kennel. I left the door open with a nightlight so they can access food and water. Are geese somewhat nocturnal?
