Game Bird Permit/ Licencsure Information

You can do a google search (permits needed to raise quail in _______) of which Province or Territory you live in.
Hope this helps

I'm making a ton of calls for my area and whatnot. There was nothing on the internet other than "you need a license" which ended up being debatable depending on if you're on agriculture land or not. Quail also apparently fall into 'hobby' so that's where the issue is it seems. But durn it, if I find out I don't need a license I will still try to get that in writing. You never know when one day...

I know EXACTLY what you mean.

Yeah, the fact I may end up selling some eggs or meat makes me really determined to have all the paperwork, even the "in extreme scenario X". If a worse case scenario happens, such as a whole H1N1 thing occurs in my province, and they're freaking in my area, I want to make sure I've got everything legit & ready. Esp to recoup costs if they say all outdoor birds need to be culled, including my 'hobby quail'.

Peace of mind, really; I just don't want to be other people's scapegoat 'cause I had less paperwork than them. >.<

For a Special Use Permit - Game Bird Hobby License Application in the state of Arizona go to
http://www.azgfd.gov/eservices/special_licenses/gamebird_hobby.shtml

This permit is for the following species only.
a. Blue grouse, Dendragapus obscurus;
b. California or valley quail, Callipepla californica;
c. Chukar, Alectoris chukar;
d. Gambel's quail, Callipepla gambelii;
e. Montezuma or Mearns' quail, Cyrtonyx montezumae;
f. Northern bobwhite, Colinus virginianus, which only requires a game bird hobby
license if used in game management units 34A, 36A, 36B, and 36C;
g. Ringneck and whitewing pheasant, Phasianus colchicus;

Evidently coturnix are not considered game birds in my state.
