I have never had more than one or two broody at any given time, until I got the AC. Now I spend all spring and summer, and apparently fall, trying to convince them to keep working for their keep.  I've only got 12 AC hens, so six broodies is a lot!

Moved birds to winter pens today.  Then spent about an hour and a half starting at dusk getting birds out of the trees and back into the coop.  Sometimes I just want to take them biddies over my knee and spank them!

When I free range the chickens they stay close by as well. Your area looks flatter than mine.

Deworming and debugging treatments seemed to break most all of mine, lol... save 1 die hard Silkie...

Nah, they just know they have us wrapped around their little webs, the spoiled little buggers... they knkw they have it good right where they are!

Our place is all hill, steep as heck too... when it sleets we can't get up the driveway, gotta park down the road and then hike up with ice stompers... :/

Wow, you all have insane broodies! I've only ever had two at a time but I have a feeling that will change...

I have over 250 between chickens and ducks...

17 is the last time I counted number of broodys at one time... might have had more than that this year, lol...
You need more Ohiki... think I had 5 of those at once... they community brood, lol...

I am at 5broodies right now. Two are co-parenting four chicks, 2 ohiki hens started sitting yesterday, and a silkie

I believe I had 8 or 9 broodies this year, but they were in a wave. Hatchings went on for several weeks. All started with a broody duck!
