Hi, my husband put down garden lime in the yard two days ago and we had a hard rain since then for like 30mins... I let my chickens out to roam around awhile. Will they be OK? Thanks!!!

You don't have anything to worry about. Although I wouldn't recommend using garden lime in the coop, it won't affect chickens in an open space. :)

Thank you!!! Would you happen to know if they can be around lawn fertilizer? If not, how long would I have to wait to let them out in the yard?

I would imagine it depends on the type of fertilizer. Someone had posted about Scotts (I think?) and they called the company and asked, they told them they shouldn't be on the lawn for the year. If you know which type you're using/going to use, you may want to do the same and contact the company. Good luck to you!

Oh wow!!! I hope not, my chickens will hate me for sure :barnie thank you so much for that link and info!!! I truly appreciate it :)

Absolutely! Yes, that would be a huge bummer. :hmm
It's the same exact fertilizer my husband bought today. I told him to take it back to the store we won't be using anything on the yard this year. lol my chickens would be gripping all day everyday :bow

Once you have chickens you have to read every label and ask questions about anything and everything you aren’t sure of.

Our motto is: if it’s green and grows, we’ll mow it.
We don’t put anything on the yard.

If weeds get big I hand weed. Or kill them with vinegar. Small ones just get cut by the lawnmower, and bagged most times. Then the bagged greens get dumped for the chickens to eat/scratch through/compost

Chickens are natural fertilizers, if you only have a few and plan on free ranging at least part of the day.

If you have more than a few chickens and are freeranging on say 3/4 of an acre or less... in a year’s time you won’t have any grass to worry about,

...because they’ll have eaten it all anyway. :gig:gig:gig:gig

Chickens are little solar-powered eating/pooping/egglaying MACHINES!

Oh wow. Somebody really needs to name a flock after lawn mower brands and the rooster can be named John Deere!

Oh good gosh. I crack myself up sometimes!
Slappin one of these on my own post: :yuckyuck
Yup. I do this every once in a while.
