Yeah they're not particularly long patents (20 years) but they're real and exist. They probably wouldn't if it weren't for big ag pushing for their own intellectual property gene patents, but such is life.

Morning!

Snowed last night. I hate when the snow is melting and then the next morning you wake up to a fresh 2 or 3"!!!! Well, I'll just have to deal with it.

Besides, it's not garden season yet. I guess I'll just enjoy the snow while it's here.

I love gardening! Didn’t do anything last year as it was our first year on the farm and never got around to planting anything.

We have two empty raised beds that I’m still trying to figure out where to put. I would like to make an arch in between them to grow things up as well. Instead of potted flowers on our deck/in the yard I think we are going to do potted veggies and fruits.

We also need to build a greenhouse this year as my husband has a few dwarf citrus trees and we don’t have a lot of space in the house..

I enjoy canning and would really like to can tomatoes and salsa this year! Hoping to grow my own tomatoes

I have a small 4 shelf portable greenhouse with a vinyl zip up door. I use it along with grow lights and heat mats. It has worked well the past couple years, though I still have lots to learn on the seed starting front.

Gonna work on holes to help it vent a bit better, maybe doing a small fan at the top to regulate air flow.

Not much gardening going on in Michigan this time of year but it is a nice sunny morning so I’m watching my chickens wonder around my garden and dreaming of all the lovely things I’m going to grow in the spring. Does that count?

Yesterday was the last day of seasonal celebrations (a birthday party) so today I start garden planning and getting my seed order ready.

First starts go into seed trays in mid February. I have 5 weeks to get it all hashed out.
