Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

Yep, that's pretty much my issue. I have not been aggressive at weeding it out. Perhaps that's why they call it DILL WEED!!! What's not to like about dill? It smells so very good, and it's great in a sandwich, and you need it to make pickles, and I always worry that I'll not have fresh dill when the cucumbers are ready, and I don't b/c it's gone by by then. so, I let it go to seed to insure that I'll have it next year. Now, I'm kicking myself b/c the problem dill from last year has become a monster. Then, there's the mint that smells so good, and I need it for my tea, SO i DON'T KILL THE STUFF. It's growing everywhere the dill and creeping charlie are not! But, I did harvest some dandelions today. That's a good thing, right? I'll cook them with tomorrow night's supper. I removed SOME weeds from the garden!!

I had a section that was so thick with dill that I dumped a wheelbarrow full of chicken droppings on it. It burned the dill out and improved that section for the next year.

I need to start making my raised beds. Going to try and grow some carrots this year. The stone riddled clay soil isn't very good for that.
That is what our soil was like when we moved here. 20180508_170512.jpg
I just pulled up these, they have been growing nearly a year! Grew all winter.

Gee, Bugs Bunny was always shown eating the root!
He also talked and messed with Elmer Fudd, and Daffy Duck. Carrots can have too much sugar in them and are best fed in small pieces. Greens are a more natural diet for rabbits. ;)

I finally got my tomatoes , summer squash and cantaloupe out. Still have to put out the peppers. I like your cinder block garden. Mine is also cinder block, but two blocks high. I have a chicken dust bath that is outlined in cinderblocks. I put parsley and marigolds in them last year. This year- dianthus - maybe mint - haven't decided on it. I even had two carrots start growing in a cinder block hole from a couple of years ago. LOL.
